Head Catering Chef 
BEST Events Catering – Janesville, WI

Scope, Expectations & Requirements: 
The Head Chef is responsible for food production and annual food sales fulfillment, while maintaining budgeted financials. The Head Chef is also responsible for the kitchen operations, ensuring the overall quality and integrity of the company.

Key responsibilities include team performance, quality assurance, effective cost controls and development, training and retention of kitchen staff to ensure the department meets financial and operating goals.

Qualified candidates will have in-depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations including culinary education and experience in food preparation. Must work well with all levels of staff throughout the building, have good communication skills, computer skills and knowledge, organizational skills. Should be capable of producing a consistent product to meet and exceed guests’ needs.

 

Salary and Benefits: 
The Head Chef is a Salaried Position with Benefit Package including a comprehensive medical insurance program; 401K program with employer matching contribution; vacation and professional development.

Salary: $40,000 per year negotiable based on experience.
 

Skills/Experience:
2 to 5 years kitchen management experience preferred but not required.
Should also have experience of most international and domestic dishes.

Minimum one year experience in ordering with major food vendor.

Serv-Safe certified.

Experience in cost effective and creative menu development.

Culinary degree and/or certification would also be highly valued.
 

Licenses or Certificates:

Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.

Job Duties:
Analyze the menus and products of competitors and ensure that all culinary staff is aware of current trends and that our product meets the needs of the market       
 

Plan and implement effective food promotions and directives, and communicate these to the field.

 

Fully understand all matters of purchasing, quality and cost control and ensure that profit and quality are maximized at all times.

 

Attend relevant meetings and develop material for the implementation of new areas within the company.

 

Identify training needs and plan training programs for the employees.

 

Recommend and select culinary management personnel who are able to work within our culinary and management philosophy.

  

Train and develop kitchen employees so that they are able to operate independently and creatively.

 

Assist in the building of an efficient team of employees by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety and development.

 

Develop Food and Beverage concepts and assist in the planning and implementation of these concepts.

 

Assist with kitchen design and development of effective working environment maximizing productivity and workers safety.
 

Collaborate with Catering Director and Event Planners to design effective menus to market.
 

Execute delicious meals in a timely manner in accordance with event contracts.
 

Maintain product and supply inventory
 

Report financial and other required results
 

Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of kitchen spaces and equipment
 

Extensive knowledge of menu development, insight into marketing, cost and wage control.

 

Thorough knowledge of food products, standard recipes and proper preparation.

 

Ability to analyze, forecast data, and make judgments to ensure efficient payroll and production control.

 

Ability to supervise large staff and accomplish goals on a timely basis.
