Assembly Technician – Lithium Batteries

TEMPORARY POSITION – Up to 6 months with opportunity to be offered permanent position

Spear Power Systems manufactures advanced lithium ion batteries for defense, marine, mining and renewable energy applications. Spear is seeking an energetic, independent team lead to aid in the manufacturing of our products. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling battery modules and systems based upon drawings, models and work instructions, as well as conducting in-process testing and teaching/working with other members of the team. Spear values teamwork, innovation, inquisitiveness, leadership and accountability.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team – demonstrated leadership skill skills is a requirement.
  • Assemble components and systems based upon drawings/schematics, models, work instructions and/or employee’s background and knowledge.
  • Use electrical/electronic test fixtures to qualify components and conduct in-line testing.
  • Work with high voltage systems, starting with low voltage components, building to high voltage systems.
  • Provide assistance to engineering team, to include supplier product assessment, assessing proof of engineering concept and manufacturability of design.
  • Aid in managing the facility, to include equipment and facility maintenance as an additional duty.

Qualifications:

  • The role is envisioned for a candidate with 2 to 5 years of highly relevant lead technician experience. Highly relevant experience must demonstrate ability to fulfill the responsibilities listed above without training.
  • Must be able to read drawings and schematics to build product.
  • Must be familiar with standard bench top equipment including power supplies, volt meters, oscilloscopes, DC programmable loads, etc.
  • Excellent ability to adapt and learn quickly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong initiative, teamwork, time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Associates degree in electrical engineering technology strongly preferred.  

U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Residence required to support government contracts.Location – this position is located at Spear’s office in the Kansas City area.  Spear will not be offering relocation allowances.
