About this job

In our hotel, the Chief Engineer assures that the building, equipment and grounds of the hotel are maintained in a safe, economical, efficient and attractive fashion, consistent with hotel policies and procedures. He or she must have a working knowledge of all maintenance functions, including but not limited to, HVAC, Mechanical/Electrical, Plumbing and basic construction. The key to excellent performance in this position is organization, leadership skills and the ability to manage several projects at one time. We are looking for someone to keep our facility in compliance will all safety standards so that we can give our guests, and fellow employees, a safe environment to enjoy. Our company is all about teamwork and first class guest service, so the candidate we are searching out has a warm and friendly personality that puts our guests at ease and sets expectations of excellence in guest room/hotel functionality.

The ideal Chief Engineer candidate has an Associate's degree in a vocational field and/or vocational training in mechanical, architectural engineering, refrigeration, heating and cooling or plumbing field (on-the-job training may substitute for educational/vocational training requirements.), an ability to lift 75+ pounds frequently, be able to stand for long periods of time, and is willing/able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

The following is a representative list of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position:
-- Smile when on-stage.
-- Manages in compliance with established company policies adn procedures, as well as Local, State and Federal laws and regulations
-- Monitors actual departmental cost by forecasting and comparing forecast to actual
-- Supervises the completion of all repairs necessary to keep lodging and restaurant units available for occupancy and operation.
-- Ensures implementation of an ongoing energy conservation program.
-- Monitors the level and quality of services performed by outside contractors in accordance with all lease agreements, service contracts and warranties.
-- Ensures implementation of an ongoing preventative maintenance program to limit the deterioration of the property's physical plant, equipment and grounds.
-- Performs regularly scheduled inspections in order to direct and complete the work as outlined in the preventative maintenance program of all equipment.
-- Interviews and selects maintenance staff. Responsible for the training and proficiency of maintenance associates.
-- Performs regularly scheduled safety inspections, including but not limited to, fire safety devices of the hotel to maintain compliance with all city codes.
-- Interfaces with department heads and others to assure proper care, including hotel upkeep and upgrades.
-- Assures that basic mechanical and/or electrical equipment, machinery and/or circuitry of the property are kept in good working order.

Technical training in mechanical and electrical fields; experience in maintenance of refrigeration, heating and cooling, carpentry, and plumbing. On-the-job training may substitute for educational/vocational training requirements.
Three years relevant experience
Management/Supervisory/Mentor experience desired
Requires ability to communicate in a positive and service oriented manner both orally and in writing to guests and members of the maintenance/hotel staff/ guests
Requires ability to perform light to heavy physical labor: Lifting, Bending, Reaching, Stretching, Pushing and Pulling.
Requires ability to lift 75+ pounds frequently
Willingness to work a flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends, holidays
