Oblate Missionary Society Inc., dba Oblate Missions, is seeking applicants for Grotto Store Clerks.  Oblate Missions, is a Roman Catholic, nonprofit mission development and fund-raising office, located in San Antonio, Texas.

POSITION:                            Grotto Store Clerk

POSITION STATUS:            Temporary-Non-exempt

 SUMMARY:                          Provides support to the Grotto Gift Store.

WORK HOURS:                   20-25 hours per week

          (Store is open 7 days a week.)

EDUCATION:                       High school diploma or equivalent. Six months

Retail /Cashiering and customer service experience, required. Bilingual language skills (English, Spanish) required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.      Supports the Grotto Gift Store Manager with cashiering, customer service, receiving and stocking merchandise, counting and pricing merchandise, etc.

2.    Balances the cash register after the work shift.

3.   Assists with the automated inventory system to data entry approved merchandise purchases, received and verified merchandise, costs, costs mark-ups, selling price, quantity, product category, etc.

4.   Assists with a periodic physical count of the merchandise inventory.

5.   Supports the Grotto Gift Store Manager by responding to inquiries from Grotto visitors and the public regarding activities and ministry efforts of Oblate Missions and the Grotto (pastoral outreach programs, Mass schedules, and other religious activities).

6.  Assists with opening and closing the Grotto Gift Store and Chapel.

7.  Works 16 - 19 hours per week, scheduled Sunday through the following Saturday between 9:30 am and 6:30 pm.

8.  Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION:

·         High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

·                                 Requires six months experience in retail, cashiering and customer service             or related.

SKILLS:

·         Bilingual language skills (English and Spanish), required.

·         Basic computer, math and cash register skills, required

·         Customer service skills, required.

·         Knowledge of Roman Catholic faith, required.

·         Proficient basic computer skills, preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. by self or with lifting and pulling equipment.  Must be able to tolerate kneeling, stooping, and standing. Manual dexterity with hands, fingers, arms, shoulders, elbows, required.

The work environment characteristics are those commonly associated with a gift store where noise level is moderate.
