Summary:
The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in managing the daily operations of the Corporate Accounting Department and is involved with all aspects of the accounting cycle including period-end and year-end close. This position is responsible for performing all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by management. This is an exempt position and typically reports to the department manager.

Summary:
The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in managing the daily operations of the Corporate Accounting Department and is involved with all aspects of the accounting cycle including period-end and year-end close. This position is responsible for performing all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by management. This is an exempt position and typically reports to the department manager.
Essential Functions:
- Performs account analysis and ensures follow-up and resolution of issues
- Performs period close duties, ranging from preparing and/or approving journal entries to preparing and/or approving reconciliations
- Communicates with a wide range of internal and external customers (other departments, field locations, management, etc.)
- Identifies and recommends process improvements to create efficiencies with daily tasks and departmental functions
- Supports peers and management on non-routine projects
- May assist with audits of company information by retrieving supporting documentation from accounting records and preparing summary schedules
- May supervise staff level accountants and monitor their performance
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other Business related course of study
- Requires minimum of 3-6 years of related experience
- Requires analytical and problem solving skills
- Requires strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Requires strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Requires a working knowledge of Excel
- PeopleSoft Financials knowledge a plus
