Produce Part Time Customer Service - Part-time

Our Produce department helps customers live healthier, better lives by offering a variety of delicious and unique fruits and vegetables. In this area, you'll be responsible for ensuring customers have access to fresh produce from around the world. • Proactively approach customers, educate them about unique produce offerings, make suggestions for meal solutions, help locate products, and fulfill made-to-order requests
• Familiarize self with products in the department and understand how products look and smell at the peak of perfection
• Seek to expand knowledge about organics, seasonal items, cooking techniques and MENU Magazine and share knowledge with customers

Product (What We Do)

• Trim, cut and package fruits and vegetables while maintaining attractive product appearance, rotating for freshness and minimizing shrink
• Unload and break down deliveries and maintain department appearance by displaying proper signage and well-merchandised product

• Properly handle products, use equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines and Simplification 5S procedures

Work Environment

• Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, occasional heavy lifting, bending, and reaching, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment. Work involves exposure to various work environments, including cold temperatures. The average weight range of items lifted is 5-20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted greater than 50 pounds occasionally. You may receive assistance with heavy items, if available. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
• Work may require the safe and proper handling of knives and food processing equipment
• Work includes use of hand pallet jack, power pallet jack, power walkie-reach, scissors lift or WAV unit. Wegmans certification required for use of power equipment
