Store Manager (Convenience Store) - Full-time / Part-time

Summary

The Store Manager is responsible for the over-all, round-the-clock operations of the site which may include petroleum distribution area(s), a convenience store, a car wash facility and outbuilding(s). The Store Manager is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, coaching and managing personnel; site profitability including income and expenses; and, safety, cleanliness and security of the site, personnel and inventory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Build a team of professional employees who deliver outstanding service to customers
• Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service
• Provide a fresh and inviting product offering to customers
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and employees
• Manage expenses and control budget variances to achieve desired profitability
• Work in various environments including: inside store; in beverage cooler; outside store; on gradual sloping terrain; and in wet and harsh weather
• Move independently around store and site as needs require
• Supervise petroleum delivery and stocking
• Oversee cooler inventory
• Physically assist customers or employees in distress in any area on the site; this may include bending, reaching, twisting and lifting
• Lead, train, coach, counsel, motivate and evaluate employees to assure a thriving profit-oriented sales team and a thorough succession plan for the Assistant Manager
• Other duties as assigned by the District Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position supervises up to 4 Assistant Manager and up to 25 Customer Service Representatives (CSR)

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma
• 2 years in retail management
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Possess excellent judgment, tact, discretion and aptitude to work under stress and with shifting priorities
• Understand management principles and maintain business objectives and manage the site in a lucrative manner
• Proficiency in basic math with an understanding of accounting principles
• Superior interpersonal skills
• Exceptional computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
• ServSafe Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Hospitality, Restaurant Management, Retail Management or a related field.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Ability to move around entire site independently including lifting and rotating merchandise weighing up to 60 pounds unassisted

WORK ENVIROMENT

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes in an office environment, and majority of the time is exposed to outdoor weather conditions
• This position will be at a Sam’s Mart C-store with exposure to outside elements, moving vehicles, and chemicals on a daily basis
• This is a full-time position, requiring schedule flexibility surrounding business needs
