Position Overview

Equal Justice Works seeks interns for a ten-week period starting on Equal Justice Works seeks interns for a ten-week period starting first week of June through August 10th. Equal Justice Works Summer interns will receive a stipend and have the opportunity to gain invaluable working experience with nonprofits, public interest law and federal programs. Each intern will be asked to perform a variety of duties below.  Interns will be expected to work up to 30 hours per week. We are looking for interns who can provide the organization with ten weeks of continuous work. Applications are due by March 16th.

The Fellowships Intern reports to the Fellowships Portfolio Manager while working closely with the Program Manager, other Portfolio Managers, and the Director of the Fellowships unit.  The Fellowships Intern will provide administrative support to the multiple departments and unit-wide processes of the Fellowships Unit. 

 

Specific Responsibilities

Alumni Booklets and Promotional Materials

    • Update Fellow and alumni booklets for sponsors
    • Create template Fellow and alumni booklets for specific geographic and issue areas
    • Update geographic and issue area promotional materials with newly selected 2018 Fellowship Class

CRM database updates

    • Assist with invoicing of sponsors
    • Enter meeting notes
    • Create records of contacts from recent meetings
    • Record CRM opportunities for 2019 sponsor outreach
    • Input historical sponsor preferences into sponsor records
    • Update alumni entries with information about their Fellowships and current work

Prospect and Sponsor research

    • Research potential corporate, law firm, and foundation funders
    • Assist in the creation of Contact Reports for Portfolio Manager travel

Impact data 

    • Aggregate data from Fellows’ one-year and final reports
    • Collect impact stories to highlight

Fellowship candidate and host organization outreach

    • Assist with outreach to potential candidates, law schools, host organizations and general public for 2019 Fellowship candidates

Alumni reviewer outreach

    • Assist with contacting and confirming alumni reviewers for 2019 Fellowship cycle

Fellowship Corps publicity and support

  • Assist with development and creation of marketing materials and communications strategy to publicize current issue area Fellowship corps

Direct Reports:

  • None

 Education and Experience Required:

  • Undergraduate education experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with Dynamics CRM database or comparable database system preferred.

Location:

  • Daily activities are conducted in a typical office environment.

  • Careful attention to detail and excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and get results in a complex and dynamic working environment
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Passion for organization’s mission

 Stipend:

  • Interns that commit to working for a term of ten weeks will be given a stipend of $3,500 dollars. Disbursed in two payments, the first payment will be disbursed two weeks into the internship and the last payment will be disbursed during the last week of the internship.
  • This position is not available for course credit.
