Description: Essential Functions:

* Under direct supervision of the physician and/or designee, assists in examination and treatment of patients.

* Register and admit patients to service area.

* Secure information necessary for preparation of required forms.

* Collect appropriate fees.

* Verify charges from fee schedule, issue cash receipts, prepare charge slips and balance cash receipts.

* Assist patients by having knowledge of the co-pays/applicable fees, facility, other departments, and administrative services.

* Handle cash according to indicated policies and procedures.

* Initiate and complete Release of Information forms as appropriate.

Basic Qualifications:

* High School Diploma / GED.

* One-year experience within the past two years as a Cashier/ Receptionist or Unit Assistant in an outpatient /inpatient care setting where hands-on medical/ nursing care is delivered is required.

* Knowledge of medical terminology required.

* Must be proficient in word processing.

* Testing: Typing 35 WPM or 6,000 KPH

* Testing: PC skills test (able to pass PC skills assessment)

* Testing: Medical Terminology (able to pass standardized test)

* Must have experience in performing detailed, repetitive clerical functions; demonstrating clear, distinct communication skills and legible written communication skills.

* Must successfully complete PARRS II, RegPlus, Lotus Notes and/or other computer training programs within the orientation period.

* Must possess ability to do accurate simple arithmetic and operate credit card machine.

* Demonstrate ability to display and project a courteous and professional demeanor in order to promote congenial interactions; to include effective and proper phone etiquette.

* Demonstrate the ability to accurately and efficiently copy, sort, file, schedule and coordinate ancillary services to the department.

* Demonstrate accurate registration, coding and revenue collection per procedures care is delivered is required.

* Demonstrate the ability to serve as a conduit for department information.

* Must demonstrate attention to detail while effectively dealing with multiple demands.
