The role of the Direct Support Professional is to provide direct care services to Individuals receiving services through A.I.D. Residential Services. Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: providing daily living assistance to individuals receiving services (showering, dressing, shaving, peri care, all other ADL's); Implementation of individuals BSP (if applicable); Transportation as required to medical appointments and community outings; Community integration activities/outings; Medication Administration; Active Treatment & promoting self-advocacy; ISP Goal outcomes; Documentation using a computer; Assisting individuals in independent living skills as required; Cleaning responsibilities in the service location; Assisting in meal preparation; Lifting and transferring of Individuals served (as required); All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent (must provide official transcripts).

  • Must be able to work every other weekend and 10 hour shifts.

  • One (1) year of experience working with persons with Intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred.

  • Pass the state requirements for criminal background check and drug screen.

  • Ability to become certified in the following: CPR, First Aid, Core A and B, crisis interventions and any other required trainings.

  • Must provide proof of car insurance and have a current Indiana State driver’s license.

  • Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting (up to 75 lbs.), when needed.

  • Must be able to cook and operate household appliances
