Responsibilities*

What skills will you master?

Because our passion lies in making you a well-rounded employee, we want to expose you to and teach you a variety of skills.

Working hands-on with a patient you will:

* Take patient vital signs

* Obtain health status and medical history

* Perform electrocardiogram (EKG), pulse Ox, and glucose testing

* Give immunizations

* Maintain efficient clinic flow in partnership with providers

* Prep for and assist in Bone Marrow Biopsies and Lumbar Punctures

Working with the clinic staff in an office setting you will:

* Request and process medical records and lab results from outside facilities

* Monitor interim labs and call patients with reminders and results

* Draft FMLA and disability paperwork

* Maintain stock levels and order clinic supplies

Required Qualifications*

* High school diploma or GED.

* You are required to have either graduated from a Medical Assistant program OR have an equivalent combination of education and experience

* Knowledge of basic medical terminology.

* Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team setting.

* Ability to communicate effectively.

* Demonstrated active listening, written, verbal, and information technology skills.

* Associate level: 2+ years of related experience.

* Assistant level: 0-2 years of related experience.

Desired Qualifications*

* Certification as a medical assistant.

* Some office experience is desirable.

* Experience working within a large, complex healthcare setting.

* Familiarity with Michigan Medicine's electronic medical record systems.

* Knowledge of university policies & procedures.

Work Schedule

What will your work schedule look like?

The clinic is open 8:00 AM -- 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. We stagger our start times starting at 7:00 AM and ending at 5:00 PM, but each staff member has a consistent shift assignment.

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Additional Information

Physical Requirements:

You will be required to do some moderate standing and walking, as well as lift, position, push, and/or transfer patients.
