In the role of a Meat Team Leader, you’ll assist in running the Meat department and will work with team members to develop their skills and passions.   • Ensure team members are trained on proper cutting and trimming techniques; work with Prepared Foods to utilize and reduce shrink

Results (What We Measure)

  • Perform essential tasks for efficient Meat operations; orders, schedules, and manage payroll; relay pertinent information to Store Management; ensure efficient operations
  • Ensure proper use of equipment; ensure food & human safety, simplification, company policies and procedures are followed

Work Environment

  • Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, occasional heavy lifting, bending, and reaching, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment. Work involves exposure to various work environments, including cold temperatures. The average weight range of items lifted is 15-40 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of greater than 50 pounds occasionally. You may receive assistance with heavy items, if available. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
  • Work may include use of hand pallet jack, power pallet jack, power walkie-reach, scissors lift or WAV unit. Wegmans certification required for use of power equipment
  • Work may require the safe and proper handling of knives, meat grinder and meat saw

Preferred Qualifications
  • Customer service experience, preferably in a food service, grocery or retail setting
  • Experience utilizing a variety of cooking techniques
  • Experience working in a butcher shop
  • Managerial/ supervisory experience including delegating tasks to others

Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of different types and cuts of meat and poultry
  • Passion for food and beverages; knowledge of food and beverage pairings
