Position Title:          Bench Jeweler Team Lead

Status:                       FT/ Non-Exempt

Department:             Production               

Reports To:             Production Supervisor

 

Summary

The Bench Jeweler Team Lead is primarily responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the Bench Jeweler Team processes, workflow, and ensuring deadlines are met.  The Lead is also polishing, cleaning, and plating pieces.  This is a fast-paced, micro-manufacturing environment, as multiple orders are received and processed daily.  The Lead will be expected to work quickly and efficiently with an eye for detail.  All job functions will relate to the production of Legacy Touch consumer orders.

 

 

Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s in Metals and Jewelry, Fine Arts, or equivalent work- related experience

·         Minimum 2 years of bench jeweler experience

·         Gemology degree a plus

·         Experience in jewelry repairs and stone settings a plus

·         Previous Lead or Supervisor experience a plus

·         Proficient in jeweler’s tools, machinery, and equipment

·         Proficiency using computers, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

·         Customer service focused and professional attitude

·         Ability to solve problems, prioritize, multi-task, and train others

·         Ability to work in a team environment, and interact closely with team members

·         Work under limited supervision

·         Goal oriented, with excellent time management and organizational skills

·         Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels in the company

·         High attention to detail

·         Ability to keep sensitive information confidential

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

·         Oversee Bench Jeweler Team processes, daily workflow, and return merchandise authorizations

·         Ensure order deadlines for the team are met or exceeded

·         Train/Mentor Bench Jewelers and ensure compliance with applicable standard operating procedures

·         Works directly with Product Development to execute projects/processes, support management on changes, and transition team

·         Provides Purchasing support as first point of contact to resolve product quality concerns

·         Collaborates with Purchasing, Engraving, and Product Development to communicate product concerns to vendor

·         Escalated product concerns/cases will be relayed to Product Development for Quality Assurance assessment

·         Stages time trials and sample testing with Bench Jeweler Team

·         Provides foresight into finishing new products and implementing new workflows

·         Reviews, repairs, and provides guidance to Bench Jeweler Team on failed QC products for additional finishing needed outside of Production workflow

·         Repair jewelry, set stones, laser weld, and apply durenamel

·         Inspect precious metal pieces from vendors for quality

·         Polish, clean, and plate precious metals; at minimum 100 pieces per day

·         Perform quality control checks on custom order keepsakes

·         Ensures pieces are distributed to shipping for final QC

·         Sustain accurate supply levels

·         Perform lab cleaning to keep equipment at peak operating performance

·         Ability to follow verbal/written instructions and production orders

·         Demonstrate effective teamwork skills by knowledge sharing

·         Compliance with standard operating procedures to perform the functions of the job

·         Gain full knowledge of functions of the automated Fulfillment system to perform daily tasks

·         Advise Production Supervisor/Manager of work status, workload, problems, and progress as related to orders and personnel

·         Represent department and the organization favorably and in accordance with Company standards and associate attributes at all times

·         Other duties as assigned by management
