Global Investor Sales -- Global Equities Head, Internal Retail Channels

The Global Equities Head for Internal Retail Channels will be responsible for formulating and executing a strategy that achieves and maintains a leading position across the Equity product space with our Private Bank and Consumer Bank clients globally. Key areas of focus will be on ensuring we provide best-in-class markets access, advisory and execution capabilities, building stronger connectivity between the internal distribution channels of the Private Bank & the Consumer Bank, and Markets & Securities Services.

In partnership with the regional Capital Markets (CM) team leaders in CPB and GCG, the successful candidate will manage a team of equity specialists, and work with multiple partners across the bank in GCG (i.e. Bankers, Investor Sales teams), CPB (i.e. Bankers, Investment Counselors), as well as in Markets (i.e. Equity Sales and Trading desks globally and the Multi-Asset Group). The candidate should have good connectivity to the Investment Bank (IB) and Capital Markets Origination (CMO).

The ideal candidate should also have proven success in Business Development and Capital Markets Product Management, and demonstrate a successful track record of leadership and execution. The role requires strong analytical and quantitative skills and a strategic approach to delivering flow and structured products and solutions to our clients, focusing on bringing the most appropriate opportunities to the right client segments, and an overall excellent client experience.

The role will report to the Global Head of Internal Retail Channels, and the Global Head of Equity Solutions Sales and Structuring. The position will be based in London or New York and will require a significant amount of travel globally. The regional CPB Equity Advisory heads will have a line of reporting into this role in addition to their local reporting line into their regional CPB Capital Markets Head.

Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

Business Development:

* Develop a coordinated business strategy in the Equity products to deliver the full range of proprietary and non-proprietary products and solutions to our target market clients.

* From a flow and structured products perspective, ensure that the CPB Equity teams and GCG sales/structuring teams have access to and service from all relevant Markets desks as well as access to the right levels of access to Open Architecture and 3rd-party execution where appropriate.

* Help develop strong relationships between the regional CPB Equity Product Heads & GCG sales/structuring heads, and the relevant Markets Trading Desk Heads

* Extensive interaction with Markets product origination to identify opportunities for clients.

* Close partnership with Multi Asset Group and Equity Derivatives to develop discretionary portfolio solutions with embedded hedges and/or yield enhancement overlays

* Lead development of the equity product as a key building block at the centre of both clients' core and opportunistic portfolios.

* Drive initiatives to broaden clients' participation in systematic equity hedging solutions for their portfolios

* Partner with the broader Citi, notably CMO and IB, to deliver on a successful Solutions business with our CPB clients.

* Broaden our strategic equity solutions dialogue in partnership with Corporate Equity Solutions

* Drive a coordinated approach to global product launches including origination, demand assessment, marketing and execution efforts

* Align with other global retail asset class heads to drive cross sell opportunities into other products, exploring opportunities to expand client wallet

* Travel extensively to help educate clients and CPB/GCG front office on asset class capabilities and coverage options that Citi can offer

* Drive improved client experience through access to market colour and product from global sources across CPB, GCG and Markets.

* Partnering with Markets colleagues to secure necessary attention and resources to drive business, from both commercial partners (e.g. structuring, trading etc.), and business support functions (e.g. technology, operations)

Business Initiatives Strategy:

* Drive strategic initiatives and activities to maximize growth in the Equity products

* Work with regional CPB CM heads to continually review and refresh the client coverage model to optimise the client experience

* Identification of clients who would benefit from up-tiering in terms of product sophistication

* Identifying clients who trade the asset class as part of their core activity (CPB Direct- to-Desk)

* Continued review of CPB Direct-to-Desk clients from a suitability perspective

* Continued review, identification and on-boarding of Market Direct Access clients in CPB

* Work to develop globally consistent metrics to evaluate performance of both individuals and teams

* Work with regional CPB CM heads and HR to implement appropriate scorecard metrics

* Work with Investment Finance and Risk to drive the right processes for LVs, ISDA approvals, Trading Lines Approvals, etc.

* Protect our clients and the franchise through a relentless commitment to control and governance built on the highest standard of personal ethics and responsibility.

Product Development and Platform:

* Ensure that all the CPB/GCG platform capabilities and market access of the regional teams are effective and allow us to favourably compete within our target market

* Lead product technology integration efforts to improve our structuring, issuance and execution platforms to the CPB/GCG channels

* Provide leadership and support in the identification, design, approval, training and successful implementation of new Equity Products or variations

* Responsible for the global NPAC/MPAC/DPAC processes

* Own and coordinate the multiple projects required to drive business efficiency and client experience

* Ongoing ownership of the global Equity Product Programs, ensuring timely approval renewals and updates

* Partner with other CPB investment products (CIM and CIM Alternatives) to coordinate product strategy, strategic and tactical implementation, and new product development

* Close coordination with OCIS and Investment Lab at CPB to deliver product opportunities for clients in line with CPBs strategic and tactical asset allocation, and as driven by thematic views.

* Partnering with global control partners in CPB, GCG and Markets to bring consistency to distinct regional approaches, and increase coordination across the wall to reduce duplication of efforts, in the continuous pursuit of strengthening our governance and controls

Management Reporting:

* Work closely with Finance in Markets, CPB and GCG to ensure accurate reporting of the internal channel business

* Management reporting such as MBR's and Capital Market Reviews

* Periodic Revenue Outlook forecasts

* Budgeting/planning

* Expense management

Human Capital Management:

* Work closely with the regional CPB Capital Markets heads, GCG sales/structuring heads and HR to drive the CM people strategy

* Ensure the people strategy and organisational capabilities are aligned to the business strategy

* Graduate recruitment, training and other related processes.

* In depth experience of Equity products, ideally with exposure also to retail clients usage

* In depth experience in Hedging and Monetization strategies and solutions

* Successful understanding and leadership of a sales or trading business

* Strong intellectual grasp of the industry and with the ability to anticipate and lead the organisational response to future changes.

* Ability to translate vision into executable plans

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

* Credibility and gravitas to build, lead, and motivate across products and matrix reporting lines

* Superior problem solving skills; pragmatic approach to ensure limited resources are directed appropriately

* Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, engineering or a related field required.
