Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a registered Cardiac Sonographer, performs diagnostic procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by physicians. Responsible for learning and operating various types of imaging machines.

Job Responsibilities:

* Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.

* Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.

* Performs routine echocardiograms under the supervision of a Registered Cardiac Sonographer.

* Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.

* Other duties as assigned.

Education:

* Currently enrolled in a Medical Diagnostic Sonography program specializing in Echocardiography.

* Individual will be evaluated continuously and will be promoted to Cardiac Sonographer within a minimum of 6 months or maximum of 12 months.

Certifications:

* Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required.

Competencies (Complexity of Work):

* Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

* Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

* Currently enrolled in a Medical Diagnostic Sonography program specializing in Echocardiography and completing their clinicals at Cleveland Clinic.

Physical Requirements:

* Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

* Ability to push and maneuver 500-pound equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment.

* Be able to assist patients when necessary.

Personal Protective Equipment:

* Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures
