POSITION SUMMARY
The Retail Associate may function in various capacities within the retail location. This role demonstrates
behaviors consistent with our Mission, Vision and Values, on behalf of Goodwill of Central & Southern
Indiana.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for
various functions within the retail setting. The following sections outline the various roles and
responsibilities of retail associates.
Responsibilities
● The Cashier is responsible for the following.
● Provides excellent customer service by accurately ringing up customer orders and maintaining a
balanced drawer.
● Provides general information about Goodwill programs to educate customers and answer questions.
Directs all higher-level questions to appropriate associate or manager.
● Performs counterfeit, quick-change artist checks for $20 bills and above.
● Follows all cash handling procedures and protocols, including requesting manager’s assistance for
sales $50 or above.
● Maintains cleanliness of sales floor (purge, colorize, run racks, and merchandise).
● Stays abreast of company procedures by successfully passing all quizzes.
● The Textile Producer is responsible for the following.
● Provides a consistent, top-quality customer experience by sorting product to identify quality (check
for holes, missing buttons, defective zippers, or stains) and properly barbing, tagging, and hanging
textiles to produce 100 pieces per hour.
● Accurately groups textiles together (categorize by light to dark and solid to prints).
● Updates daily production tracking sheet.
● In addition to the general qualifications listed above, physical demands for this position will include
occasional use of a pallet jack.
● The Wares Producer is responsible for the following.
● Provides a consistent, top-quality customer experience by sorting product to identify quality and
value and preparing items (clean as needed) for the sales floor at 100 items per hour.
● Utilizes good judgment in pricing and properly tagging items in accordance with Goodwill pricing

● In addition to the general qualifications listed above, physical demands for this position will include
regular use of a conveyor belt.
● The Donation Door Attendant is responsible for the following.
● Provides excellent customer service by professionally and quickly accepting donations from
customers and maintaining a clean and clear donation door.
● Educates customers on current Goodwill promotions, including the rewards program.
● Quickly and accurately sorts products and distributes to appropriate areas.
● Loads and unloads trucks as needed.
● Maintains an efficient working area by ensuring the back room is clean and organized (all boxes
labeled, everything in its place and a place for everything).
● In addition to the general qualifications listed above, physical demands for this position will include
regular use of heavy equipment, including a pallet jack, double stacker, floor scrubber and
hydraulic lift.
● The eCommerce Producer is responsible for the following.
● Ensures Goodwill meets the principle of Good Stewardship by developing a keen eye to identify and
secure items of value for ClickGoodwill.
● Ensures Goodwill meets the principle of Good Stewardship by staying informed of market value of
merchandise through eBay and other Internet shopping sites to properly tag, itemize, and secure
items in tote for ClickGoodwill.
● Properly, efficiently and carefully palletizes, wraps, and ships totes to ClickGoodwill to meet store
quota regarding totes shipped per week.
● Educates team of high-ticket items to look for.
● The e-Books Producer is responsible for the following.
● Scans every book received by store and determine whether it is to be sent to ClickGoodwill or
displayed at the store location to meet store quota of number of books to be scanned per week.
● Properly prints inventory sheets, and packs, seals, and ships totes for ClickGoodwill.
● Provides excellent customer service by identifying top sellers and managing a clean, organized,
sales-effective display.
● The Rack Runner and Cart Runner is responsible for the following.
● Checks each rack to ensure quality and value.
● Properly colorizes and merchandises sales floor.
● Purges sales floor.
● Maintains a clean and orderly sales floor, puts away carts and stocks shelves.
● Runs 1 textile rack/wares cart per 15 minutes.
● Updates daily production tracking sheet.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
● Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience
● Military experience highly preferred
● Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills
● Team player, solid work ethic and adherence to procedures and protocol, including maintaining
confidentiality in passwords, logging on and off procedures, and adherence to the Goodwill’s
principles
● Strong attention to detail and quality of work, including safety awareness
● Good time-management skills
● Must be able to bend, stand, stretch, grip, type and carry for long periods of time
● Some positions will require carrying items in excess of 10 pounds and up to 50 pounds
● Must be able to view a computer screen regularly
● Effective to superior reading, writing and math skills relative to the role assigned
● Familiarity with computers and relevant software including basic computer and Internet navigation
