Job Description

 

The Online Merchandiser executes strategies set by the Brand Manager for assigned divisions, closely aligning to company goals. The Online Merchandiser works closely with cross functional teams and vendors to ensure merchandising and marketing priorities are met.


The Online Merchandiser’s primary focus is to optimize product presentation on company websites and retailers to drive sales, product views, conversion, average order value, customer satisfaction and lead generation.


The Online Merchandiser carries out decision making, strategies and tactics for assigned categories. The Online Merchandiser tracks both store and online product category sales to help drive their decision making and plans, while driving growth

Essential Responsibilities:
Execute online product line reviews and merge with core merchandising product line reviews for optimal execution through analysis of:

  • Review sales (Dart, Daily Dashboard, Weekly Executive Dashboard)
  • On-Site Search
  • Weekly (review, traffic, conversion, AOV)
  • Taxonomy
  • Local vs. Online Sales
  • Competitive Market
  • Promotional Strategy TY vs LY (Banners, Homepage, Email etc.)
  • In Cart/Related Item Relationships
  • Digital Product Content at item level (Images, Videos, 360 Spins)
  • Non-Product Content (articles, videos, how-to’s, buying guides at category level)

Product Data: Work with the appropriate teams to ensure the product launch schedule is properly communicated and accurate data is collected for new and transitioning items. Proactively identify possible data issues with merchant partners and data specialists.
Work with Digital Content Development team on projects for additional images and other supporting content; communicating to Core Merchandising, Replenishment, & Vendors. Merchandiser is accountable to follow-thru on progress made w/Digital Content Development team (ensuring deadlines are met) to achieve sales on product.
Review customer comments and Foresee data to investigate customer issues and make any changes necessary to improve customer satisfaction scores.
Partner with the Taxonomy, Internal & External Search teams to execute and change shopping patterns based on data through on-site navigation and search.
Execute and update category pages, brand pages and various landing pages measuring results. Review future testing opportunities and execution with support teams.
Partner with Personalization team to build related/recommended and required-to-function items.
Work with Online Merchandising Manager to develop accurate sales forecast for category of business.
Review and analyze online competitor’s site merchandising, promotional execution and tactics, user experience, product representation and taxonomy.
Work with Online Merchandising Manager to develop and align strategic plans, while being accountable to reach goals for assigned category and division.
Research and analyze product detail pages, category pages, and item list pages using customer centric insight data, sales and website analytics to implement needed changes to improve taxonomy, search, product descriptions, and product information.
Provide guidance & collaboration to core merchants and identify areas of opportunity, allowing them to establish strategies/goals.
Become the lead on delegated projects, working with Online Merchandising Manager to reach goals and test future functionality.
Collaborate with Core Merchants, Vendors, Research, Trend & Design, Online Promotions and Support teams to better understand consumer needs and market and product trends, then implement in our channel. Develop online promotional strategies with support team outside of core marketing priorities.


Provide assistance to Promotions team through: price overrides, item lists, hidden catalog requests and details specific to promotions. Manage new lower prices and special values to ensure promotions are featured in correct catalogs online.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 2+ year of experience in Online Merchandising or Retail Merchandising / Merchandising Support or-3+ years Online Merchandising or Retail Merchandising/Merchandising Support or experience.
  • Previous experience as a business partner influencing key stakeholders.
  • 1+ years experience with developing advanced data analysis models using Excel
  • 2+ years experience in program/project management
  • Excellent formal presentation, oral and written communications skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within a Big Box Retailer
  • Advanced experience with web analytic tools and eCommerce systems
  • Experience working with and leading Vendor Partners to accomplish strategic objectives in the digital space.
