Reports directly to: Director of Operations
Job Overview
The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of a successful service, including crew training and performance; menu execution and accurate costing; reducing waste of product or resources; maintaining a clean and safe space for crew and guests; scheduling and reviewing payroll; hiring, training, discipline, and termination; etc. All aspects of the General Manager’s job should be informed by our core mission of hospitality--the well being of our crew and the satisfaction of our guests.
Management Responsibilities :
- Arrive to work on time, well groomed, professionally dressed, and mentally prepared for a busy service. Arrives to work with priorities and goals already in mind.
- Is well versed in Baileys’ Restaurants standards of service and guest satisfaction; exemplifies, teaches, and enforces those standards for the benefit of our crew and guests.
- Has thorough knowledge of menus, recipes, preparations, and possible alternate preparations for all menu items.
- Has thorough knowledge of company standards regarding scheduling, discipline, maintenance, uniforms, injuries, health care, etc.
- Ensures clean, safe, and attractive facilities for guests and crew. Takes corrective action whenever facilities fall short of our standards. Takes immediate action and follows company policies in the event that a crew member is injured.
- Works with kitchen management and assistant managers to ensure company standards are upheld. Coaches and disciplines both crew and managers as needed. Responsible for writing and administering professional and accurate disciplinary documents when necessary.
- Mastery of Aloha, Ctuit, Paycom, No Wait, Gather, Google Calendar, and all programs necessary for service. Monitors subordinate managers to ensure that they can and do use these systems regularly and effectively. Ability to troubleshoot tech equipment as necessary.
- Handles money responsibly, ensuring accurate deposits, EODs, invoices, and crew tips.
- Oversees training of new crew, working patiently and consistently. Explains our values, practices, and expectations. Leads orientation for new crew members.
- Schedules crew to suit the volume of business, keeping each crewmember in the range of hours defined by their position. Reviews biweekly payroll, providing a clear and accurate report. Ensures that crew timekeeping practices and POS punch records are accurate.
- Communicates regularly and thoroughly with the Director of Operations and owners regarding all aspects of the business, especially issues with equipment, facilities, crew, or unsatisfied guests that might require a follow up.
- Flexible with weekly schedule and able to change due to business demands within reason, including staying later and coming in early if needed.
- Willing to occasionally step up on short notice in an emergency situation i.e.; call offs, terminations.
- Lead bi-weekly meetings of the management team and other occasional meetings as needed.
- Performs additional responsibilities as requested by owner or Director of Operations.
Skills & Experience:
- Naturally inclined to hospitality and leadership by example; dedicated to putting service and guests first
- Self-motivated worker with attention to detail; follows projects through to conclusion
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills; ability to pursue a variety of projects simultaneously
- Four years work experience in hospitality; two years in management.
Physical Requirements:
- This position will spend 90% to 95% of the time standing
- Fast pace work environment
- Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds (bus tubs, cases of wine,large trays, etc.) on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly
- Stamina to handle long, fast paced hours
