Director of Operations of Emory Nursing Professional Development Center

Overview: The Emory Nursing Professional Development Center (ENPDC) is a partnership between the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing (NHWSN) at Emory University and the Emory Healthcare Nursing. The goal of the ENPDC is to operate as a professional development center for nursing, serving a statewide, national, and international clientele of professional nurses and the organizations for which they work. The ENPDC will comprise three major areas of offerings: live events and workshops, online courses, and the already existing and highly-ranked Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Education Center (WOCNEC). Additionally, the ENPDC serves as a nationally accredited Provider Unit and offers planning services and CE accreditation services to outside organizations.

The Director of Operations of the Emory Nursing Professional Development Center (ENPDC) is responsible for the strategic development of the Center, beginning with extensive internal and external contacts in order to build a robust continuing education program in the field of nursing, with courses that meet the needs of nursing professionals across Georgia and around the world. S/he will be responsible for developing new business and meeting the revenue needs and growing the profitability of this new Center. The Director will have internal administrative responsibilities overseeing existing and expanded staff, the budget of ENPDC, and interfacing with the School of Nursing and Emory Healthcare (EHC) Nursing leadership, as well as external business development duties.

Business Development Duties (External)

Develop new business among potential groups and organizations seeking nursing education programs in accordance with agreed upon annual goals:

* Identify targeted audiences and develop relationships that lead to new course offerings

* Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries and leads and pursue opportunities to develop programs to meet clients' needs, whether custom or standardized programs

* Identify and work as appropriate with faculty and other subject matter experts to help develop curriculum and assist in the design and development of programs

* Make sales calls regularly to advance discussions, qualify sales opportunities, and outline contracts for workshops, courses, and programs of study

* Create and present customized written proposals to clients and follow up to finalize contracts.

* Provide excellent personalized follow up with clients on completed programs to evaluate, and to engage around new educational needs that ENPDC can assist in developing for that client.

Represent the ENPDC to external audiences and internal Emory audiences:

* Serve as primary point of contact and facilitator for an ENPDC external advisory board

* Proactively identify and attend networking events locally and nationally that offer opportunities to meet potential clients and learn of their needs, and to be aware of trends and directions in the field of nursing

* Interface regularly with representatives of EHC and NHWSN to learn about their ideas, needs and suggestions for new program offerings, including opportunities to offer programs at Emory, or in collaboration with grants led by nurses at EHC and/or NHWSN

* Coordinate with the communications and marketing staff of NHWSN, EHC and Emory University as appropriate to leverage opportunities to promote and market the ENPDC.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

Administer ENPDC and its Programs (Internal)

* As the senior member of the ENPDC team, lead the strategic planning process and annual goals setting process, including a detailed marketing plan and budget

* Track and report monthly on progress on annual plans, active course catalog, and budget status for all components of ENPDC

* Maintain excellent records of all contacts with prospective clients, their interests and contact information, and track statistics on types of contacts and outcomes monthly.

* Supervise the operation of the WOCNEC program, working closely with the Director on strategic planning, goal setting and monthly progress toward goals, as well as overseeing budgeting.

* Oversee the operation of the Accredited Provider Unit and track key performance measures monthly

* Lead the staff team of all components of the ENPDC, providing vision, promoting staff development, enabling staff to take initiative and ensuring success of programs as well as providing job satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred, and candidates should be able to show experience and skills that include or are equivalent to these:

* Master's degree in business administration, marketing, or related field

* Three or more years of experience in direct sales, including prospecting activity

* One year or more experience in higher education, continuing education or the equivalent

* Understanding of the nursing or related healthcare profession

* Two years or more of supervisory role, preferably for a team of three or more staff

* Excellent organizational skills

* Outgoing, confident and professional self-presentation

* Strong drive for success, self-motivated to meet goals

* Inclusive team approach to management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
