The San Diego Convention Center is located on sparkling San Diego Bay in the heart of a vibrant downtown. Abundant, flexible space and five-star service make the San Diego Convention Center the meeting planner's choice for hosting major conventions, trade shows, meetings and special events. The San Diego Convention Center has 2.6 million sq. ft. to include 72 meeting/banquet rooms, eight exhibit halls, two ballrooms and a special events area - the Sails Pavilion, 138-seat capacity onsite restaurant and 36-seat bar, 8 concession stands in exhibit halls, 2 full-service kitchens, portable specialty services and 3 Starbucks lobby operations.  Some of the many types of events offered at the San Diego Convention Center include the annual Comic Con and ESRI shows, full service plated dinners and buffet & reception events.

We are currently seeking Cooks at the San Diego Convention Center.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide a variety of duties related to culinary operations, including preparation of hot and cold food items.
  • Follow Centerplate culinary standards to ensure that food product is of the highest quality in taste and appearance to satisfy guests.
  • Uphold Centerplate’s standards for guest service, safety and sanitation.

    Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience as a Cook in a mid to large volume operation
  • Knowledge of basic cooking fundamentals to produce standardized recipes efficiently
  • Proficient in handling of all kitchen equipment to include: slicers, knives & mixers
  • Hotel or restaurant experience
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

Other requirements:

Must be able to work in extremes of cold to heat. 

Must be able to exert well-paced mobility to maneuver quickly among different areas of the facility.
