Description:

SOS Security is looking for a dedicated Assistant Director of Security to fill an open position in the commercial office building setting, specifically in downtown Chicago.

• Must have an excellent appearance and exceptional attitude (pride in your uniform and job is essential).
• Must be customer-service oriented, organized, responsible and professional.
• Must be willing to “go the extra mile” in welcoming and assisting building tenants, visitors and client representatives.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have an excellent attendance and job performance record.
• Must be computer literate.
• Must be a motivated, self-starter with the willingness and ability to function with limited supervision.
• Must be able to multi-task in a service oriented environment.
• Must be flexible with scheduling and have the ability to hold over to the next shift and work extra hours as needed.
• Commercial building security or customer service experience is preferred.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Must pass a drug screen.

Responsibilities of directors include:

• Preparing employee schedules with an eye on meeting contract requirements without incurring unnecessary overtime.
• Being a mentor and daily resource to all department personnel, including leading by example and communicating performance expectations to the security staff as well as consequences for not meeting those standards.
• Building and maintaining client and resident relations, promoting positive interactions between the residents and security staff and presenting the security team as an extension of the client.
• Taking responsibility for the successful operation of the security department in the absence of the Director.
• Administrative assignments as required by the department Director.
• Issuing progressive discipline for policy violations and performance issues.
• Conducting employee training/skill development, inspections and appraisals/evaluations.
• Assisting with updating the department operating manual and creating and/or updating department policies and procedures.
• May be required to fill open vacancies for special details and department needs.
• Fire/life safety/security alarm response.
• Conducting emergency response drills and training with all staff.
• Providing customer service to the highest level possible.
• Other responsibilities as described in the department operating manual.
