Currently seeking a Staff Accountant with at least 3 years of accounting experience to work for a rapidly growing corporate headquarters in Charleston, SC. This organization has a brand new state of the art facility in the heart of downtown, extensive growth opportunities, competitive salary/bonus plans, and more.

Requirements:

  • At least 2-5 years of accountant experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience with financial prep, hands on GL and Financial Statement work
  • Budgeting experience
  • Cost accounting experience is a plus

Formal Job Description:
Applies generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to analyze financial information, reconcile financial statements, prepare general and standard journal entries, assist in budget development, and prepare standard accounting and financial reports for management.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Compiles and analyzes financial information in preparation for entry into various financial statements and accounting reports, and makes appropriate journal entries for recording in the general ledger by checking calculations, reviewing basis for figures, and balancing and reconciling figures.
2. Reviews budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents and researches and resolves discrepancies as necessary.
3. Performs bank reconciliations and wire transfers for deposit, and ensures accuracy.
4. Maintains and coordinates accounting control procedures by analyzing revenue and expenditure trends and recommending appropriate budget levels to ensure expenditure control.
5. Analyzes and reviews accounting and financial resources for property acquisitions, dispositions, and closings and budgets and expenditures for local, state, federal, private funding, contracts, grants, and other corporate financial and accounting transactions.
6. Acts as liaison to internal and external auditors by explaining journal entries and financial transactions, providing research data and information as requested, and answering questions necessary to complete the audit in a timely manner.
7. Communicates with team members, key business managers, and others to answer questions, provide support, and ensure timely completion of accounting processes for on-time reporting.
8. Completes various financial, accounting, administrative, and other reports and analysis, and performs other duties as assigned or as necessary.

* Follows established policies and procedures by monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and operational processes related to area(s) of responsibility and reporting violations or infractions to appropriate individual(s).
* Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with Company, property, and departmental policies, procedures, and standards by immediately reporting any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, employee/visitor/resident injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to appropriate individual(s).
* Identifies areas for improvement and offers suggestions to improve efficiency and productivity.
* Keeps abreast of current changes in technology, processes, and standards within the industry and area(s) of responsibility by attending internal and external training classes, research and/or subscribing to the internet or
other professional publications, or utilizing other appropriate method(s) to obtain business and professional information, and applies knowledge and practices to area(s) of responsibility.
