Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our team at the Irving - 909 Hidden Ridge location in IrvingTexas.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the daily and more complex general ledger accounting activities and processes while working with G/L manager to recommend and implement process improvements.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
 

  • Reconciliation and analysis of various balance sheet accounts.
  • Variance analysis and investigation of operating P&L accounts.
  • Preparation of monthly journal entries.
  • Review of staff accountant reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Research and communication of P&L inquiries, operating statement inquiries and other inquiries from the field.
  • Preparation of quarterly and year-end audit workpapers.
  • Assist with annual audit work
  • Assisting the Accounting Manager in developing, documenting and updating policies and procedures for the department and the field.
  • Coordination with areas outside of Accounting to facilitate the flow of information and process efficiencies.
  • Work with other accounting departments to resolve accounting issues and improve the timing of reports and close.

     

Education & Experience

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with a major in Accounting or related field.
  • CPA or candidate

     

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years relevant experience

  • Serves as a lead project team member checking the work of others.  An employee in this position may be responsible for training of new team members.  Work is typical in nature with occasional situations requiring new solutions.
  • Work consists of mainly of routine tasks, processes, or operations; however often non routine requests are needed.   The incumbent must make some judgment based on the facts presented and recommend the appropriate course of action.    Problems are solved by choosing between a clear and ambiguous choices or discussing them with a supervisor.
  • Makes routine decisions; work may occasionally involve non-standard assignments and the methodology may require some research with limited detail by the immediate supervisor.
  • Responds to and handles unfamiliar situations with limited supervisory guidance.
  • Has knowledge of office or operational procedures.  Performs basic typing/word-processing, accounting, intermediate to advanced checking of charts or records and posting of information to a database/spreadsheet, following instructions.
  • Work tasks generally follow the same order and require little interpretation.  Problems are not always solved by choosing between a few clear choices which are clearly spelled-out, but rather, through research and discussions with the supervisor or other department personnel.
  • Applies established or new technology solutions to enhance individual or small work group efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Requires regular contact within and outside the department with other departments, supplying or seeking information on non-specialized matters.
