Wayside Publishing is looking for a Sales Development Representative to develop leads and close sales.


As an entry level sales position, we are looking for aptitude and attitude over experience. To succeed in this role, you will need strong organizational and email writing skills, the ability to capture information in our CRM software (Salesforce), and a big picture understanding of how your role fits in our sales pipeline. Additionally, we are looking for someone who is able to adapt to the continual change inherent in a rapidly-growing company.


Your day to day work involves connecting with teachers, mostly over email, to determine appropriate solutions to their school and classroom needs. We will train you to answer a variety of in-depth questions about how our language learning programs meet teachers needs.


This position reports to the Director of Sales and Marketing. In addition to a competitive salary, Wayside Publishing provides an incentive bonus plan and a professional environment that balances productivity with a healthy work-life culture.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Engage customers in discussion to determine needs and qualify sales opportunities
  • Close sales
  • Prospect outbound leads
  • Maintain strong knowledge of product lines, features, pricing plans, and Salesforce processes
  • Meet and exceed weekly engagement and sales goals
. Requirements:
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Must work well independently
  • Bilingual in Spanish, French, or German preferred, but not required
  • Experience in the educational K-12 industry preferred, but not required
  • Appreciates and adapts to the continual change inherent in a rapidly-growing company
  • Takes initiative with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Actively participates in a friendly and cooperative sales team environment
  • Easily and eagerly adopts new technology
  • Open to feedback
  • Obsessively attentive to details and respectful of deadlines
