Job Summary

The candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, management and maintenance of network performance and network automation applications and hardware. The candidate will utilize programming/scripting languages (Perl and/or Python) to create script based actions within these tools to execute network changes and/or obtain data collection for reporting and analysis. The applicant will also be responsible for the maintenance and population of repositories that house inventory, network monitoring, and backup configuration files and reports.

The role will consist of -- converting network configurations into a script based programming language and applying to an open API application to execute, automate, and test network changes for a very vast Enterprise. The candidate will work closely with several different technical engineering and architectural teams to accomplish company projects, goals, and initiatives -- as well as interface with all levels of the organization.

In addition, the position will also utilize programming languages to parse existing data and extract pertinent information required to analyze and report findings for projects, troubleshooting, Life Cycle Management, capital growth, infrastructure upgrades, acquisition, divestiture, and network standardization.

The position will also be responsible to make application hardware and VM sizing recommendations, customize tool and reporting application fields, and work on network-centric initiatives such as Zero Touch Provisioning scripting for network equipment and network configuration standardization and enforcement. The applicant will utilize performance monitoring and network automation tools to accomplish daily tasks and company objectives.

Job Responsibilities

Performs and implements daily operational activities that impact discrete components / processes of the Technology engineering work function, and may include responsibilities, such as:

* Participating in improvement and monitoring of deployment operations on pre-release, upgrades and current versions of software.

* Participating in evaluating compatibility of programs with existing communications hardware and software features.

* Participating in development of protocols to support established standards.

* Improving operation and monitoring of standard and advanced features.

* Participating in development of processes and interface requirements.

* Participating in data development and definition of acceptance criteria.

* Gathers and updates necessary information and communicates to appropriate parties.

* Identifies and determines likely reasons for problematic causes. Prepares accurate documentation and communication to effectively facilitate elimination of problems / roadblocks as they occur and create efficient fixes.

* Coordinates cross-functionally to accomplish activities. Interacts with internal and external peers and/or managers to exchange semi-complex information related to assigned activities.

* May assist in live site support and incident resolution that may include on-call rotation.

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree and at least 1 year of experience in a technical engineering role, such as software development, release management, deployment engineering, site operations, technical operations or similar OR High School Diploma/ GED and at least 4 years of experience in a technical engineering role, such as software development, release management, deployment engineering, site operations, technical operations or similar.

* Experience in Technology infrastructure, such as Network, Monitoring, Systems, Databases, etc.

* Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community and with vendors.

* Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.

* Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree (MS) - Computer Science/Engineering or Software Engineering

* 4 -- 8 years preferred experience working and scripting within a large Enterprise

* Effectively utilize Perl and/or Python languages to assist with network changes, reporting, deployments, maintenance, and change automation

* Evaluate, lead, design, and implement application based tools that improve network performance and ease network administration

* Utilize programming languages (Perl and/or Python) to create and provide customized reporting and analysis to all levels of the organization

* Research, design, and implement solutions to assist and achieve network related efficiencies and reporting from the current tool set

* Manage vendor and Value Added Retailer relationships for proper SE support and product updates

* Consult and assist other technical monitoring or operational platforms to synergize or optimize company reporting, monitoring, and alerting

* Work cross-functionally to accomplish departmental or company goals and technical initiatives

* Consult or recommend IT trends, solutions, and best practices for open source and multi-cloud environments that utilize coding/scripting to all levels of management

* Provide instruction to less experience staff on application usage or change automation creation

* Knowledge and experience leading and working with vendors to customize applications and/or open source network specific applications

* Proficient with one or more programming languages -- Perl and/or Python

* An ability to adapt or easily learn proprietary vendor application coding

* Strong understanding of complex route and switch designs and configurations and/or concepts

* Experience creating and utilizing programming techniques to run data queries against vast enterprise inventory to analyze and produce custom reporting

* 2 -- 4 years working within a programming/scripting cloud based environment

* Experience writing and developing technical documentation such technical standards and processes

* May assist in live site support and incident resolution that may include on-call rotation

* Exceptionally strong process, planning, and organizational skills
