Responsibilities*

Develop, modify, and analyze complex computer programs, systems and/or portions of a larger system for the UM-Flint Information and online systems. Write or modify computer programs in the language(s) of the student information systems and any other applicable systems. Prepare programs to be executed for testing and production. Develop test data and test routines to detect program errors and to test entire systems. Develop solutions for data access and maintenance, utilizing appropriate authentication and security procedures.

Collaborate with technical staff, project coordinator and users to determine system requirements for requested projects. Assist in the design, implementation, integration and maintenance of various applications. Provide technical programming and administrative support assistance to database administrators, ERP support specialists, analysts and programmers. Investigate systems development, modifications and interfaces to determine technical requirements and impact to system(s); provide technical advice and recommendations to management. Identify and assess alternative problem solutions and make recommendations to project coordinator and management.

Support group with scripting, automation, and server support.

Update technical skills as necessary by reading manuals and journals, subscribing to discussion groups, attending training, etc.

Required Qualifications*

Must have a B.S. or higher in computer science or a related field or equivalent work experience.

Demonstrated considerable knowledge and experience utilizing various programming and scripting languages including Java, SQL, PL/SQL, and UNIX.

Demonstrated considerable knowledge and experience with Web technologies, including HTML, CGI, and JavaScript.

Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills necessary to interact effectively with university personnel of varying technological skill levels.

Good organizational and problem-solving skills

At least three years previous experience working with relational databases and Web-based applications is required.

Desired Qualifications*

Experience with Groovy, Grails, XML, and mobile applications development preferred.

Experience working with Oracle and MS SQL databases in an academic environment is preferred.

Familiarity with Banner student information systems is desired.

Familiarity with Blackboard is preferred.

Familiarity with university policies and procedures is preferred.

Familiarity with cosign preferred

Experience supporting enterprise level single sign-on and dual authentication

Demonstrated knowledge of CAS and Shiboleth
