Headway Workforce Solutions is currently seeking a Warehouse Associate for a 12+ month contract opportunity in Alpharetta, GA with our client, a leading metal producer in the steel industry, striving to serve metal producers as the global authority in metals excellence.


Job Description:

The Warehouse Associate will be part of the logistics team in Project Management department and report to the Logistics Manager. Equipment being warehoused in the two locations belong to electrical and automation projects executed by the project management group in Alpharetta. It is extremely important that the equipment housed in the warehouse can be easily and quickly located, packed, labeled and shipped to either PTUS customer sites or to another supplier for consolidation.

It is required for the associate to ensure that all equipment shipped to and from the warehouse is managed end-to-end, during shipping transit and in warehouse storage. Equipment being transmitted / consolidated for less than or equal to five days will be brought and stored to the main office located at Alpharetta, GA location. For equipment, packages, being brought over for more than five days would be received and stored by the associate at the second warehouse located at a nearby location in Alpharetta. The person will be responsible for keeping track of these items.


Position Details:
  • Maintain inventory for two small-to-medium sized warehouses located near each other.
  • Receive and ship equipment to and from the warehouses
  • Should own a personal vehicle for transport between the two warehouses - mileage to be reimbursed by company.
  • Will be required to operate fork-lift and pallet jack in performing his/her duties
  • Will be required to box, band (metal or nylon strips to tie equipment to wooden pallets), shrink-wrap, pack and unpack equipment as required for storage and shipping.
  • Prepare bi-weekly inventory report to provide an updated list of all items being warehoused at the two facilities

Skills:
  • Has at least a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a valid Georgia driver's license and personal transport
  • Required to have some working knowledge of computers - able to create MSExcel worksheets, MS Outlook for emails.
  • Has a willingness to learn new computer skills - as we will require the associate to learn to use our ELISA / LMS Logistics Management System.
  • Prior experience with logistics and warehouse management a huge plus, but not required
  • Demonstrable / certified use of any logistics management software system an added plus but not required
  • Electrical, Class 1, Fork lift certification would be preferred, but not required

Physical Demands:
  • Employee is required to talk and hear, and use hands to finger keyboard, telephone and handle other objects.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk, sit and reach with hands and arms. Vision required for this job includes close vision (clear vision within 20 inches).
  • Tools/Equipment – ability to use hand tools
  • Safety Equipment – ability to wear hard hat, safety boots, safety glasses; basic PPE
  • Will be required to lift up to 50 pounds as part of his/her daily routine

Additional Information:
  • This is a 12+ month contract position.
  • Weekdays. 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
