UTILITY PLANT OPERATIONS SHIFT SUPERVISOR

Provide leadership for operations staff assigned to the designated shift. Lead the overall operation of utility plant equipment including chillers, boilers, thermal energy storage systems and other auxiliary systems during the assigned shift. This includes the production and distribution of utilities along with the maintenance of these systems within all supported properties. This is accomplished through staff and skilled operators assigned to the operation. Review work performance of shift operators. In conjunction with leadership team, develop and implement ideas to optimize equipment operations. Develop long range plans for upgrading mechanical and electrical equipment. Develop, document, and administer the in-house commissioning of new equipment and retro-commissioning of existing equipment. Serve as project manager, coordinating and sometimes directly supervising utility outages and the performance of emergency maintenance on campus utilities and facilities. Ensure compliance with safety standards and requirements. Enforce federal regulations governing environmental protection, the handling of hazardous materials and hazardous waste, and the use of chemical substances and materials. Coordinate with the maintenance team for equipment maintenance and availability. Expected to develop an operational understanding of all University related utility facilities including a working knowledge of all major plant equipment and components and possess an understanding and be able to operate all equipment in manual mode or from a `Wonderware' screen.
