The Herald & Review in Decatur, Illinois, has an opening for an aggressive and fast-moving reporter to cover public safety and other topics during the evening hours.
This position will focus largely on police, fire and crime reporting, as well as night event coverage.
We're looking for an enterprising reporter who can spot trends and bring a watchdog attitude. Experience in social media, multimedia and reader engagement are musts, as is a collaborative spirit. A background in data reporting is a big plus.
Decatur is a few hours from Chicago and St. Louis, in an area with plenty of recreational opportunities and affordable living. Our lake is beautiful and we offer a charming downtown. Ours is an exciting news market with plenty of topics in which to dig, uncover and report.
This position includes some weekend shifts.
