SPRING HIRING CLINIC DATES:  APRIL 4-5th, 2018

 

Ski Patrol I is responsible for performing guest service functions such as accident handling, administering first aid, trail maintenance, promoting and creating a safe environment for guests and employees, mountain sweeps, lift evacuation, avalanche control and explosives handling.  The job responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Supervising and promoting guest safety on varied terrain in high altitude, with varying winter weather conditions
  • Assisting injured guests on the mountain and administering first aid
  • Transporting injured guests off the mountain using a toboggan or supporting air lift operations
  • Performing sweeps at the end of the day to ensure that all guests are safely off the mountain
  • Maintaining trails
  • Transporting and setting up mountain safety equipment
  • Transporting supplies and heavy equipment to areas of need on skis
  • Avalanche control including safely transporting and using explosives in a high alpine environment.
  • Driving snowmobiles to various areas of the mountain, as needed
  • Enforcement of the Colorado Ski Safety Act and Resort Policies
  • Chairlift guest evacuation

 

Requirements

  • Attend Patrol hiring clinic on April 4th & 5th, 2018. All applicants must use skis during the Spring Clinic - no snowboards
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) certified  (Medical certification is required for employment but not to attend clinic. OEC training is provided for all new hires at the beginning of the 2018-19 season.)
  • Must be an expert level skier - this is not a snowboarding position
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment
  • Must use manual dexterity to operate equipment
  • Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age by December 1, 2018
  • Must be available to work holidays and weekends
  • Must possess basic computer skills/knowledge
  • Must be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written)
  • Must have excellent guest service skills
  • Must work well in a team
  • Previous patrol or ski resort experience - Preferred
