Job Title: Central Kitchen Crew Member

Department: Operations

Summary

Perform a variety of food preparation duties; cooking, preparing salads, raw food and mixes. Follow all recipe, sanitation and Food Safety and Employee Safety standards. Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked and/or prepared to recipe standard.; using methods such as tasting, smelling, temperature or piercing them with utensils. Clean kitchen equipment and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Produce Menu items

Ensure quality of the product. Recipes should be compliant and fresh. Portion and package food for distribution to restaurants. Maintain compliance with safety and sanitation standards. All quality audits and sanitation and safety audits should be 90% or above. Clean work areas, equipment and building surfaces.

Individual Tasks

Take initiative for self-development. Recommend measures for improving work procedures to increase quality, service and safety. The Crew Member should work or train in their position 100% of the scheduled time.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires an employee to be in a standing position for an extended period of time. The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands and wrists is required. Trunk strength should be sufficient to bend and stoop repeatedly and move objects between 20 to 50 pounds short distances.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Other Skills and Abilities

Bilingual in English and Spanish.
