Position Summary:

As the General Manager, You have a proven track record of success in hotel management and you want to grow. As General Manager for The Pitcher Inn, you will have the opportunity to apply what you know, strengthen as a leader, and much more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of operations by exercising demonstrated knowledge and experience in all phases of hotel management, including sales and marketing, human resources, food and beverage, budget and forecast management, rooms, housekeeping and maintenance.
  • Provide the vision, leadership and strategy to inspire your associates to deliver exceptional service and drive financial success. You have a strong hotel management background and an obvious passion for the hospitality industry. Your passion for service is contagious and you are a natural coach that loves to build effective teams and inspires individuals to do their best.
  • Enable innovation and drive results. You execute successful sales and marketing campaigns, understand dynamic revenue management and can drive profit to the bottom line through strong financial controls.
  • Build a rapport with ownership. You collaborate closely with the owners and work to understand their priorities and exceed their expectations.
  • Prepare the annual budget.
  • Post the daily revenue via generation of reports for the Property Management and Food and Beverage Systems.
  • Performs each criteria as contained in The Inn’s then-current “General Manager’s Standard of Performance and Standard of Operations” in a satisfactory manner.
  • Creates an operating environment that assures consistent guest satisfaction.·
  • Monitors the performance of The Inn through verification and analysis of guest satisfaction systems and financial reports. Initiates corrective action.
  • Maintains product and service quality standards by conducting ongoing evaluations and investigating complaints. Initiates corrective action.
  • Develops accurate and aggressive long and short-range financial objectives consistent with the Company's mission statement.
  • Prepares financial reports for management that clearly explain operational effectiveness, trends and variances.
  • Establishes and maintains a pro-active human resource function to ensure employee motivation, training and development, wage and benefits administration, and compliance with established labor regulations.
  • Maintains an appropriate level of community public affairs involvement.
  • Executes marketing, sales, and operational activities, producing results that meet or exceed The Inn’s business plan.
  • Ensures good safety practices of employees and guests, assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains applicable preventive maintenance programs to protect the physical assets of the Inn.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality or related area of study or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience
  • 5 years of relevant experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent project management and strong customer relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrates a professional mannerism and strong work ethic.
  • Strong ability to meet metrics and work within a budget.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible work schedule required including weekends and Holidays, as per business needs.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Excel (including detailed understanding of v-lookups, pivot tables and formulas) and Word.
  • Ability to interpret business needs and results.

Safety and Work Habits:

  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record, punctuality and meeting deadlines.
  • Participate in training sessions and seminars, which may be held outside of regular shift hours, and on or off the regular work location.
  • Responsible for adhering to policies, procedures and practices.

 

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to work independently, flexible hours, without supervision, and function effectively in a customer service environment.
  • Working knowledge of office systems and equipment. Mainly Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Valid Driver’s License, proof of current insurance, and ability to travel around site required.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.
  • Must be able to work efficiently on multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Effectively communicate in English orally, in writing or electronically.
  • Work effectively in a service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.
  • Follow through on assignments, using problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Interact with members of the team and other business contacts in a positive and cooperative manner.
