In your role as an Assistant Store Manager, at Alaska Commercial Company (ACC), you assist in managing all aspects of the individual store operation in accordance with company policy and procedures; control all variable expenses; maximize sales and profitability; and satisfy all housekeeping, merchandising and operating standards.

Your Role:

  • Assist in achieving budgeted sales, gross profit and expense lines within each department and total store;
  • Establish and maintain favorable store and corporate community relations;
  • Implement company policies and procedures in all aspects of the organization, and ensure all personnel understand/comply with all state and federal rules, regulations, and laws;
  • Ensure meeting the store and equipment maintenance standards to maximize operating efficiency and preserve the security of all corporate assets;
  • Assist in the selection, training, supervising, evaluation and development of all department supervisors and key personnel to ensure their attainment of a high level of productivity;
  • Conduct daily and weekly walkthrough/meetings with all department supervisors and key personnel to determine any necessary action to maintain/elevate store standards;
  • Analyze competitors strengths and weakness and communicate to head office; and
  • Regulate preventative maintenance/sanitation scheduled.

 

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 3+ years of management experience in grocery retail;
  • Ability to lead and develop a team;
  • Ability to speak effectively in groups;
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions both verbally and orally;
  • Computer knowledge of Excel and Outlook;
  • Strong knowledge of grocery and general merchandise operating principles;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Ability to work with confidential information;
  • Ability to work independently with others with little or no direction; an
  • Customer driven.
