At Sunrise, our Clinical Liaison is responsible for using discretion and independent judgment to generate qualified leads as a result of a direct external sales effort and co-marketing effort with Sunrise Senior Living communities. The Clinical Liaison will target referrals from among the professional medical community (typically a hospital, Skilled Nursing and/or Rehabilitation Center) and assess the referred residents for appropriate placement. Responsibilities include positioning Sunrise Senior Living as a preferred provider and maintaining professional relationships in the community, developing and implementing sales strategies, and achieving sales targets. The Clinical Liaison will spend all or vast majority of their time performing the listed duties within this job description.

Responsibilities
 
Responsibilities:
Senior Living operates a number of different brands of communities for seniors. As a result, this positions' area of responsibility may differ among the various brands and states. Despite the differences in responsibilities between the brands and states, the following are a core set of duties common to this position.

Essential Duties: External Business Development
- Provides ongoing product-service education as a result of sales effort within the market to trade organizations, hospital departments, physicians and other health care organizations, as appropriate.

- Coordinates participation of community team members in professional societies and activities related to the health care industry, which will result in qualified leads.

- Identifies both new business opportunities and new customer call points within the communities served for additional qualified leads and move-ins.

- Identifies, targets, and generates consistent and continuous referral stream from qualified referral sources as a result of an effective and systematic external business development yielding both census and revenue growth.

- Defines, develops key macro referral sources and maintains relationships with key area referral sources within their assigned area that have the ability to refer to multiple communities.

- Establishes, manages and communicates account plans which align with their market's priorities.

- Collaborates with Executive Directors and community sales teams on improved service delivery and problem resolution related to the accounts in their portfolio.

- Keeps abreast of professional developments in the field by reading, attending conferences, and training sessions.

Organizes trade show presentations, brochures, and other marketing material, and provides support with professional events held in the community which will drive qualified leads for the communities they represent. 

- Provides on-going and timely communication and follow-up to Executive Directors and Director of Sales of initiatives in progress that may generate referrals to their community.

- Coordinates joint sales efforts with appropriate representatives of Sunrise Senior Living communities to identify and meets with both prospective and existing customers, as appropriate.

- Monitors and reports census/referral activity for accounts in their portfolio; prepares and submits required sales management reports reflecting targets, progress and accomplishments while maintaining a thorough working proficiency and keeping professional contact records current in the customer relationship management tracking system.

- Communicates activities and outcomes with communities in their market by submitting a weekly calendar of scheduled and completed activities; participates in a regularly scheduled meeting with the market's Executive Directors and - Community sales teams to review status of existing and prospective accounts.

Fully comprehends and can explain to others the basic legal aspects of sales contracts (language and terms) and state regulations regarding admissions/discharges.

Essential Duties: Coordination of Health Needs
- Prospective residents who have been referred to ensure all needs can be met and communities have sufficient information to provide care per Sunrise standards.

- Through the assessment process, identifies on-going needs and services of Sunrise Senior Living residents who have been admitted to outside clinical settings, such as Hospitals, Rehabilitation Facilities and Skilled Nursing environments.

- Collect all necessary clinical data related to a prospective or existing Sunrise Senior Living resident from outside clinical settings and provide to respective Sunrise Senior Living community.

Essential Duties: Financial Management 

Understands and manages their costs by monitoring their budgets and reconciliation.

Processes and submits monthly expenses and budget data timely per Sunrise policies and internal business controls.

Understands the internal cost associated with all Sunrise resident care programs

Essential Duties: Training, Leadership and Team Member Development

Partners in the delivery and participation in Sunrise University Training and self study programs during the required timeframe.

Develops a working knowledge of state regulations and ensures compliance.

Keeps abreast of professional developments in the field by reading, attending conferences and training sessions

Reports To:
- President of Resident Care

Classification: Exempt
- Position is exempt from overtime eligibility under the Administrative Exemption of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.

Sunrise University Training

- Fulfills all required training within the required timeframe, including the completion of all Sunrise University training and study application appropriate for the position.

- Completes all management training within the required timeframe.

- Completes all training required by the state or other regulating authorities including ongoing training per regulations.

- Completion of training may be required and/or certificates available per regulations and laws as applicable.

- Completes position 90-day On-boarding checklist.

- Attends Sunrise Selling Skills and Customer Relationship Management lead tracking database courses within 90 days, and other position-specific training as defined by supervisor.

 

Qualifications:
- Degree required
- Current state license as a Professional Registered Nurse, per state regulations
- Two years business to business sales in a healthcare setting
- Experience selling to healthcare accounts is preferred
- In assisted living, home health or long term care industries
- To handle multiple priorities
- Written and verbal skills for effective communication and the ability to facilitate group presentations
- Organizational and time management skills
- To constantly survey the environment for new or changing business opportunities
- To customarily and regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment
- Good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills
- Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel) and Sunrise applications with the ability to learn new applications
- To work flexible hours, available for our customers at peak service delivery days and time
- Ability to work without daily supervision either on the road or in a home-office environment.
