The Director Store Planning – Downsizes & Remodels provides strategic team leadership for Burlington’s Downsizes & Remodel program. Lead high volume and fast paced development that completes 40+ Downsizes &Remodels per year. Leads the extensive daily operations and establishes required standards for designs, plans, and specifications to ensure consistent execution of projects. Provides functional and technical expertise for cross-department collaboration and in support of numerous company initiatives.

Responsible to develop a Vision and Long-Range Plan (LRP) in conjunction with Vice President. Maintain a strategic approach including development and implementation of innovative processes to improve consistency, effectiveness & efficiencies. Establish and manage KPIs to drive business success and achieve LRP.

Directs internal Store Planners & Architects to achieve department goals and the successful completion of retail and non-retail projects. Department goals include:

  • Driving Top Line Sales
  • Leveraging Capital & Expense
  • Delivering a “Differentiated” Store Environment
  • Delivering Best in Class “Speed To Market”
  • Development of Best in Class Store Development Team

Directs external Store Planning, Architectural & Engineering Consultants, and Global Vendor Partners to achieve department goals and the successful completion of retail and non-retail programs.

Lead teams in the development of “high quality” and “cost effective” scope and planning solutions thru all phases of the development process (programming/pre-design, schematic design, design development, construction documents, construction administration). Has direct ownership of Store Planning phases, provides guidance during Innovation and Construction phases. Develops and utilizes program management tools/dashboards within Lucernex for scope of work, cost, schedule, quality, and resources.

Serve as functional expert in support of numerous company initiatives aimed at driving sales growth thru “brand right” and “cost-effective” store environment solutions.

Provide leadership, coordination, and communication with all partners involved in the store development process, including: Real Estate, Legal, Facilities, Property Administration, Merchants, Planning & Allocation, Merchandise Presentation, Marketing, Store Operations, Stores Field Organization, IT, LP, Finance, Construction, Store Innovation, Architects, Design Consultants, Landlords, General Contractors, etc.

Responsible to supervise a total of 5 people, Manager Store Planning, Senior Store Planners and Store Planners

Candidates must have Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in related field is preferred. Qualified candidate must have 5+ years in leadership role within the retail industry, 10+ years of experience in Store Planning role with major retail brand or design firm and significant architectural experience and proficiency with architectural construction documents

Frequent travel in US and Puerto Rico and potential international travel is required
