General Summary

The Dollar General Director of Global Sourcing will drive companywide direct import penetration, as well as companywide merchandising cost saving initiatives. The Director is also responsible for establishing global operation offices to support highly growth area (Health & Beauty, Food) & diversify sourcing risks.

• Drive divisional bid opportunities along with the help of merchant and Private Brand team; Work with merchant/Private Brand team to develop sourcing guidance before buy trips.
• Optimize divisional vendor matrix to elevate our sourcing capabilities; manage divisional vendor consolidation; manage divisional ad hoc projects (IE: Tariff, Pull forward, Duty updates, Price Negotiation).
• Customize divisional sourcing strategies that fall under the overarching objectives; Fine tune our sourcing/compliance process to bring best industry practice.
• Guardrail import vendors to be brought into the business based on compliance, capability, capacity, cost, cooperation; Liaison between corporate office and all import parties.
• Manage technical cost reduction.
• Manage global sourcing footprint expansion.

• Must be knowledgeable with vendor base, compliance measures, country of expertise relating to the categories assigned to the individual (Health & beauty, Food or non-consumable).
• Skilled in contract negotiation, price negotiation with global vendor matrix.
• Knowledge pertaining to setting up global sourcing offices in various countries.
• Ability to interact with multiple teams to push through global sourcing objectives.
• Able to perform at high level under pressure to deliver financial result needed.
• Ability to travel around the globe 3-4 times a year
• Great communication skills across multiple sourcing offices, agents, suppliers to ensure execution.
• Knowledge of sourcing development and product development and a strong understanding of supply chain activities.
• Ability to manage and lead a multi-cultural and diverse team.

Four year university degree in relevant discipline is required; MBA preferred. At least 10 years of experience in sourcing related areas.
