Min Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

·   Must hold a current license to practice medicine by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.

·   Eligible for Board Certification in Psychiatry.

·   Must hold current Drug Enforcement Agency and Texas Department of Public Safety    controlled substances registration certificates.

·   Residency training in psychiatry.

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides direct psychiatric care services related to diagnosis and treatment of patients, via digital medical services.  Ensures that appropriate psychiatric health care is accessible and provided in a timely fashion, via digital medical services.  Renders final medical judgement regarding psychiatric care provided to inmates assigned to their practice units, per approved UTMB – CMC treatment algorithms and practices.  Works under the general direction of the UTMB – CMC, CHS medical director, with extensive latitude for the exercise of initiative and independent judgement.
