Job Summary

Waste Management has an opening fora Sr. Project Manager with Coal Combustible Residual (CCR, fly ash, bottom ash,etc.) and Landfill Construction experience to be responsible formanagement of all phases of program and project activities that range fromsmall to large in value. Directs preparation of work plans, supervises projectteams, and manages project scope, budget and schedule. Other duties may beassigned as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all phases of planning and execution on projects as defined by potential risk, complexity, manpower requirements and /or contract value.
  • May have responsibility for multiple projects.
  • Establishes and monitors project safety and quality programs.
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and controls projects in accordance with established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements.
  • Supervises project personnel through subordinate leaders.
  • Supports business development activities and may serve as a proposal manager.
  • Represents the company when dealing with clients and maintains client relationships
  • Applies technical and/or managerial expertise to improve effectiveness and provide guidance to employees in own area
  • Anticipates and interprets customer needs and identifies potential solutions to customer problems
  • Interprets business issues and adapts work priorities in own area
  • Manages budget for own area and allocates resources accordingly
  • Resolves operational, customer, employee or problems that impact the effectiveness of own area
  • Must have 5-10 years relevant Construction Remediation experience including grading, solidification, de-watering, capping and all other tasks associated with their closure.
  • Must have direct on-site construction experience on Coal Combustible Residuals (CCR) with ponds and/or landfills
  • Landfill Construction experience to include cell construction, geosynthetic installation, leachate collection, protective cover and filling
  • Manages professional employees and/or supervisors, technical or production staff
  • Has accountability for managing financial resources
  • Develops processes and procedures to implement functional strategies
  • Has in-depth expertise in own discipline and knowledge of the related disciplines
  • Develops plans and coordinates resources to meet operational objectives within own area
  • Has the ability to grasp, understand, and explain difficult concepts and persuade others to adopt a point of view
  • Manages the performance of employees by setting goals, performing timely assessments and evaluations, and coaching.
  • Advocates for and constantly encourages the professional growth of subordinate team members
  • Good construction/remediation/civil techniques associated with CCR or other waste material is a plus.
  • Coal ash experience with building new coal ash landfills, closing coal ash landfills, excavation of ash from basins and/or dewatering ash basins, etc.

Educationand Experience

Education:Bachelor's degree (accredited) in Business Administration or similar area ofstudy, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4years of relevant work experience.

Experience:Seven years of relevant experience experience in the electric utility industry.

OtherKnowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

Projectplanning, estimating and budgeting, Landfill Engineering/EnvironmentalRemediation, Regulatory knowledge, contract management, operations experienceand general waste industry knowledge required. Computer software experienceincluding estimating software, digitizers for cut and fills estimates,Microsoft office.
