Summer Show Crew & Costume Characters - Part-time

Have fun and try something new, no experience needed! We are looking for outgoing, reliable people with a great attitude to join the team for the summer. San Diego Zoo is looking for costume characters that will also be show crew, crowd control and guest feedback collectors. The position runs from now until September 6th with the possiblilty to stay on in the fall.

Basic Job Functions

• Enthusiastically represents San Diego Zoo by displaying a positive attitude, high level of energy and commitment to quality throughout all aspects of the job.
• Perform as a costume character and character crew both in-park and out-of-park as assigned.
• Performances could include basic choreographed shows and meet and greets with guests.
• As a San Diego zoo costume character, you will safely greet guests while maintaining social distance
• You will also act as a character escort to assist the characters and guests.
• You must be able to interact positively with park guests and team members of all ages, different ethnic/cultural backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs.
   

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Applicants must be between 4’ 11” to 6'2".
• Applicants must be able to follow written and verbal direction.
• Maintain a professional and positive attitude.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
• Must have strong verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to stand, sit and/or walk for prolonged periods.
• Must be able to pick up and perform a simple choreographed dance routine.
• Experience is not necessary but rhythm and a positive attitude are.
• Openly able to accept performance feedback and critique and adapt accordingly.
• Maintain a positive and flexible attitude.
