Ocean Import Agent

Salary: contingent upon experience

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Planning, production and carrying out solutions for Import department
  • Receive, review and process import documentation from overseas agents/customers
  • Update shipment status, issue arrival notice and obtain entry documents for customs entries
  • Communicate with customs brokers to confirm customs release status
  • Arrange freight release with carriers/co-load agents, confirm cargo availability
  • Respond to customer requests for shipment status by emails, phone calls in a timely manner, referring customer to supervisor/manager when questions are beyond scope of responsibility
  • Follow up bookings received from overseas agents/customers, open import files and file ISF
  • Adhere to all domestic and international shipping regulations
  • Advise supervisor/manager of any transaction problems and irregularities
  • Perform any other related tasks as required or assigned by supervisor/manager
  • Adhere to rates and or master rate sheets to ensure proper rates are applied for invoicing
  • Invoicing of COD shipments
  • Collaborate with other departments and other offices as necessary to meet customer requirements
  • Take incoming phone calls and respond to issues quickly and accurately
Requirements:
  • At least 2 years’ experience in handling Ocean Import documentation and operations
  • Freight Forwarding industry experience required
  • Must have strong customer service skills and experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong computer proficiency with MS Office
