Description: Under the supervision of the Director Advanced Practice Providers, the APRN PA Short Term Observation functions in collaboration with a physician according to a standard care arrangement or supervisory agreement. Performs complete histories and physicals on patients within the age determined by their certification as it relates to education and clinical training; to establish and record patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan. This medical care is in the areas identified. APRNs/PAs are privileged by the Board of Governors. Base hours exceed other patient care areas and expectations for 24/7 hour coverage of an advanced, very autonomous role provide advanced care to patients with complex, acute, and chronic health conditions.

Qualificiations: PA: Graduate of an ARC approved Physician Assistant Program. Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or applicable state licensure through the State Medical Board for certificate to practice. APRN: Graduate of an accredited APRN program. Masters degree in Nursing and/or applicable state license through the Ohio Board of Nursing for certificate to practice. PA: Current certification as a Physician Assistant through the NCCPA. Incumbent must obtain applicable State licensure before employment, license to prescribe or be eligible. Must have approved Physician Supervision Agreement (listed on State Medical Board website) and/or signed addendum to Physician Supervision Agreement. Must be privileged by CCAGs Credentialing Board. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required based upon work setting. APRN: Licensed as RN in applicable state, national certification as nurse practitioner (APRN) by nationally accredited organization, current certificate of authority/APRN license by applicable state Board of Nursing. BLS Healthcare Provider required; ACLS, PALS and additional certifications may be required based upon work setting. Function as trainer to other Advanced Practice Providers throughout the system. Required Experience of Minimum 2 years practicing as an APRN/PA preferred. Requires critical thinking skills, excellent analytical and decision making skills are required. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Management of acutely ill patients. Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated competency and the ability to perform advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plan development and invasive procedures as per clinical privileges. Ability to work as a member of a team. Follow guideline and set protocols for STO unit. Work Off Hours, weekend/holidays, regular schedules, 24/7 coverage. Autonomy/independence continually. Intensive on the job training.
