Cashier/Clerk/Retail Hardware - Full-time / Part-time

Suburban Ace Hardware in Cockeysville, MD has a full time position available for a cashier. The primary responsibilities of the cashier position are to maintain customer service, process sales quickly, accurately, and efficiently using a POS computer. The major responsibilities for this position include:

• Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service which meets Ace Hardware standards.
• Greet customers as they enter the store
• Answer phone calls after the 5th ring.
• Tactfully and pleasantly deal with customers.
• Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
• Accurately and efficiently ring on registers and maintain a presence at the register area.
• Maintain an orderly appearance of the register area and keep register supplies stocked.
• Assist in maintaining, stocking, and merchandising the front of the store.
• Issuing receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
• Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store management.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education/Training: High School Degree, some college preferred.
• Experience in a retail environment either as a cashier, salesperson, or back office worker.
• A committment to service, excellence, and customer satisfaction.
• Skills/Knowledge: Ability to process information and/or merchandise through register/POS system.
• Ability to communicate with associates and customers.
• Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong willingness to learn.
• Knowledge of retail computer systems, electronic cash registers, and good keyboarding skills, MS Word and Excel a plus.
• Exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
• Ability to move and handle boxes of merchandise (up to 40lbs.) throughout the store, which entails lifting, bending, reaching and twisting.
