Overview
Responsible for directing and evaluating all operational activities for merchandise areas relating to retail sales. Determination and
management of the cost of goods, profitability, expense controls, capital expenditures, budget development, inventory control,
personnel development, security/loss prevention, cash control, guest service, retail facility layout, safety and special projects.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years related experience.
- Basic computer skills to include Word and Excel.
- Former supervisory or leadership experience, with a proven history of increasing levels of responsibility.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills, including oral and written communications.
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
- Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
- Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV,
previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial
law.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and administers annual department operating budget, monitors progress and makes adjustments (cost of goods,
labor and ODC's) against these budget plans, continuously throughout the year to meet division specific goals, and
provide explanations for budget variances. - Manages direct reports daily work performance, provides training, coaching and counseling, regarding performance and
disciplinary situations, and makes decisions into discipline, promotion, demotion and termination; prepares and conducts
performance appraisals on an annual basis with each direct report. - Develops and monitors departmental training programs, divisional and Company guest service programs; reviews
department policies and procedures, makes specific modification to improve service and efficiency. - Reviews daily, weekly and monthly department paperwork and reports and takes action to implement appropriate
corrective actions to resolve operational concerns. - Schedules, assigns and follows up on work assignments given to Area Managers, Supervisors, Team Leaders and Front
Line Employees. - Implements health, safety, security, cash handling, loss prevention policies and procedures for department; ensures staff
complies with all local, state and federal laws. - Ensures guest satisfaction by responding and resolving guest concerns quickly; coordinating guest control in both
planned and unplanned situations, coordinating with other departments actions that can impact merchandise and makes
decisions to solve problems in issues that arise in the daily operation. - Communicates department status to director on an ongoing basis including operational issues, employee concerns,
special requests, losses and any other unusual situations. - Coordinates and directs all aspects of the annual inventory; ensures appropriate inventory levels are maintained in all
shops through merchandise presentation and back office system; implements merchandise floor moves, ensures the
availability of all needed materials and equipment. - Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO
policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment. - Other duties may be assigned.
