THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a proven analytics leader, with experience and interest in building top-performing analytics teams, guiding the application of data science and machine learning methods, an eye and passion for data quality, and the ability to connect analytics to business impact. This leader will not just address business problems; instead will help identify the right problems that have the most value to the organization with a passion for research, experimentation, measurement, and learning.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with large data sets, and will have experience in data-driven decision making. Lead groundbreaking projects, to leverage massive structured, unstructured, transactional and real-time data sets from a variety of sources, analyze financial and customer usage patterns and make actionable recommendations using machine learning, data mining, business understanding and common sense. The leader will have a strong bias towards action, enjoy finding patterns amidst chaos, and have demonstrated success in using analytics to drive business impact. We’re looking for someone who has the technical skills to surface insights quickly, and the interpersonal skills to communicate those insights in a way that persuades action. As the organization's principle analytics expert, the director is a key internal adviser and SME on all things around analytics and data science.

Lastly, this leader will work closely with Strategy, Operations, Technology, HR, Finance, and Marketing to share your analytic insights and make recommendations on individual and company-wide strategic initiatives.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Act as the chief advocate and evangelist of data based decision making in the top leadership team
• Lead the transformation of the company towards an analytically enabled organization bringing best practice insights and solutions from across the enterprise
• Deliver and lead the company through high-quality data-driven business analytics, empirically-derived analytic models, and strategies that address business issues and provide key insights leading to drive impact and ROI.
• Shaping the Analytics strategy and communicating a clear vision, strategy and roadmap to all stakeholders
• Translate complex analytics outcomes into actionable insights and operational decisions
• Advise the leadership team on analytics value opportunities on an ongoing basis and translate business problems into specific analytics and technology enabled solutions
• Establish and set benchmarks and key performance indicators of the overall health of business, as well as success metrics for initiatives
• Inform and help develop predictive models, machine learning and AI techniques to improve key processes across our business.
• Stay abreast of developments at the intersection of science, technology and business relevant to the company and drive business innovation through Analytics
• Collaborate with technology teams on evolution of analytics technology stack
• Develop standards and processes for analytics solution development and implementation for critical functions of the company
• Directly lead a specialized team of data scientists and analysts. Develop the members of the analytics team ensuring they have the necessary skills, capabilities and experiences to deliver industry-leading analytics and insights.
• Codify and sharing knowledge created within the analytics organization to further enhance enterprise analytics capabilities
• Develop an ongoing revision of long-term strategic plans for analytics deliverables.
• Be a champion for a data-driven, collaborative decision-making culture
• Champion and raise the bar across the organization in terms of analytical rigor while also bringing in new approaches and techniques

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

• 10+ years of progressive experience and expertise in the field data analytics, data science, and AI.
• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, business, statistics, economics, computer science or related field. Masters or Ph.D. in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related field is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience as a thought leader and innovator in the development of new tools, methodologies and problem-solving analytics approaches.
• Proven ability to build enterprise analytics capabilities and world class teams.
• Modeling experience and working knowledge of modelling (regression, machine learning, feature selection, dimension reduction, validation), data (extracting, preparing, munging, validating), and building analytics pipelines.
• Deep understanding of statistics, structured and unstructured data analysis, predictive modeling techniques and data visualization
• Collaborative and consultative, with superior story-telling and persuasion skills.
• Possesses an intuitive feel for the business and our customers, understands where data driven insights might lie, and how they may impact decisions.
• Broad understanding of latest Data Science, Analytics and Technology trends and their impact on business strategies and operations
• Hands on experience with emerging statistical methods/techniques (e.g. Machine learning and/or artificial intelligence)
• Deep understanding of statistics, structured and unstructured data analysis, predictive modeling techniques and data visualization
• Deep understanding and demonstrated ability to adapt to complex business environments and situations
• Demonstrated ability to articulate, persuade and communicate the value of analytics.
• Demonstrated experience defining, motivating and driving change at executive level and across stakeholders
• Proficiency with sophisticated analytics tools and programming languages such as SAS, R, Python, Alteryx, SQL
• Hands on experience with big data platforms
• Strong people management experience of analytics analysts and data scientists.
• Experience in Restaurant or Retail industry specifically is a plus.
