About this job

The Catering Manager at the U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) oversees the planning, preparation, execution, and breakdown associated with all catered programming and events. The catering team provides service for a diverse range of clientele – including, but not limited to, corporate groups, community-based organizations, students, military, weddings, and consumers of public Whitewater events. Successful execution of each event will require effective communication and collaboration with Food & Beverage, Group Sales, Events, and other operational departments onsite. The Catering Manager is supported by a Catering Coordinator and a team of Event Staff.KEY COMPETENCIESOperational Efficiency•Work closely with the kitchen to create precise orders for food and supplies•Forecast staffing needs and set staffing plans leaving room for adjustment as necessary•Achieve quality and operational goals set by the Director of Food & BeverageGuest Experience•Maintain a strong presence onsite during key festivals and large group events•Ensure standards for food quality, food presentation, and venue appearance are met•Anticipate guest needs and provide each customer with a positive, engaging experienceCommunication•Develop a thorough understanding of all requirements and expectations for upcoming events•Ensure constant and effective interdepartmental communication•Maintain and develop vendor relationships as neededPersonnel Management•Foster and develop a high-functioning team of hospitality professionals•Establish and implement performance expectations and evaluation techniques•Lead by example, and hold the team accountable at all levels

Requirements

•	Management level experience in a high-volume catering atmosphere
•	Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills
•	Excellent service skills, professional demeanor
•	Ability to problem solve, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks
•	Maintain availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays with frequency
