Department Overview

Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. As a whole, Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.

Gas Operations Aviation Services provides transportation for personnel within the PG&E service area and such other destinations as necessary to meet Company objectives.

Position Summary

Provides leadership and management for Aircraft Operations. Supervises the activities of Aviation Maintenance. Oversees the safety, cleanliness, and proper operation of PG&E aircraft and ensures aircraft are certifiable for deployment. Develops operational and maintenance policies and procedures to ensure the safe and efficient operation of PG&E aircraft. Establishes, designs, and monitors training programs for all aircraft and maintenance personnel. Represents PG&E in all aircraft operations and maintenance matters.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the supervision, planning and operations of aviation maintenance that includes; authoring and maintaining manuals, standards, processes, and procedure development, program design and implementation, and review of productivity and performance.
  • Supervises the safety, cleanliness, and proper maintenance of PG&E aircraft and ensures aircraft meet all PG&E and regulatory requirements for deployment.
  • Approves all maintenance checklists and repair documentation/logs and confirms all inspections are performed in accordance with manufacturer, PG&E and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulatory requirements, including documents, testimonies, and recommendations.
  • Authorizes the acquisition, ordering, and/or replacement of materials, components, and parts.
  • Maintains relationships with external vendors and provides outreach to private/public organizations and community affiliations.
  • Establishes, designs, and monitors training programs for all maintenance personnel and ensures timely course completion, renewal, knowledge retention, and skills enhancement.
  • Is the PG&E maintenance representative and coordinates with PG&E's, Regulatory and Compliance office and FAA to ensure all maintenance personnel, functions, and training programs are in adherence and compliance with PG&E guidelines, FAA regulations, and federal, state, and local laws.
  • Acts as a liaison with aircraft operations, other PG&E departments, and federal, state, and local agencies and organizations to address and resolve aviation mechanical issues and concerns.
  • Partners with the Safety Program Manager to ensure a safe work environment for all maintenance personnel.
  • Ensures and confirms that all maintenance personnel are fully competent, trained, and adhere to written procedures when operating/utilizing machinery systems, equipment, and power/hand tools.
  • Manages the data integrity and reporting from aviation maintenance systems.
  • Develops, evaluates, and reports metrics for continuous quality and efficiency improvement of aviation maintenance.
  • Administers the budget for aviation maintenance.
  • Provides training, guidance, coaching, and mentoring to all maintenance personnel.
  • Lead for PG&E FAA Inspector Authorization (IA) for all aircraft maintenance.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Supervises, trains, coaches and guides the maintenance department staff.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six (6) years of job-related experience.
  • Active FAA Inspector Authorization (IA) license.
  • Active FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic license
  • CA Class C License, or equivalent
  • Record of clean driving

Desired

  • Associate's (AA/AS) degree, or training from community college, vocational school, and/or extended learning in a mechanical related field
  • Eight (8) years of job-related experience
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Commencement from U.S. Military and/or civilian technical schools desired
  • Completed coursework and/or training from the National Business Aviation Association's (NBAA) Professional Development Program desired.
