It is the primary responsibility of the Utility Porter to wash dinnerware, flatware, and glassware with a dishwasher and properly clean and sanitize soiled kitchen utensils. Other responsibilities include receiving and disassembling orders from vendors and the warehouse, as well as maintaining cleanliness of the venue by removing trash from the premises and offloading in the designated areas as well as sweeping and mopping floors. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and company policies, practices and procedures.

  • Operate dishwasher machines in accordance to sanitation and safety standards.
  • Receive soiled dinnerware, flatware, and glassware, placing items according to size and likeness on automatic dish washing conveyor belt.
  • Remove washed dinnerware, flatware, and glassware and stacks them according to size and likeness for future use.
  • Properly utilize a three compartment sink for cleaning, rinsing, and sanitizing soiled kitchen and FOH utensils.
  • Utilize proper cleaning chemicals for designated cleaning and sanitization.
  • Return items not satisfactorily cleaned for a second wash.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors and FOH areas as necessary.
  • Scrub walls and trash cans.
  • Pick up trash in kitchen and dispose of properly at the prescribed loading dock area.
  • Clean floor mats.
  • Assist with the receiving and disposition of orders from vendors and warehouses.
  • Maintain a solid menu knowledge and attention to detail with plate presentation.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
  • Strictly abide by any applicable State sanitation/Health regulations and Property requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Perform all other job related duties as requested.

Required:

  • Ability to apply basic knife skills required for preparation.
  • Working knowledge of basic kitchen equipment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Worked varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

Preferred:

  • At least 6 months of related kitchen experience in professional setting.
  • Bilingual.
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.
