Design Engineer -- Tractor Functional Requirements and Specifications will lead the team responsible for the defining and coordinating functional product content in for the Large or CCH tractor. Key responsibilities include: Coordinate design release schedules and Product Validation test plans Translate Marketing and Brand needs to tractor machine requirements Leads the process of mapping end-user needs to performance specifications down to hardware and software technical specifications Top level functional and performance requirements for tractor electronic systems and components including: tractor control systems, telematics, precision farming & guidance (PF&G), hydraulic controls, drivetrain controls, engine controls and tractor/implement controls. All operator-to-machine electronic interface and computer-human-interfaces (CHI) functional requirements and specifications including: UI/UX, display screens, clusters, armrests, propel devices, levers and button/switch elements throughout the tractor. Define acceptance criteria for overall tractor control system functionality and performance Responsibilities / Essential Functions: Oversee requirements definition, concepts and designs, and employ design analysis methods and functionality and performance improvements in order to plan a course of action consistent with project and product line objectives. Ensures appropriate engineering techniques and standardization are used to optimize manufacturing technology and processes to produce cost effective designs. Provides project planning information to project managers. Responsible for the overall quality, reliability, and efficiency of engineering outputs, developing corrective procedures when necessary, and for maintaining an awareness of current research, industry trends and developments that may impact their strategic business. Champions innovations and intellectual property capture, which will advance acceptance of CNH product/systems. Liaise with other functions to resolve problems and champion design alternatives. Keeps informed of engineering and agricultural technological developments, and evolving field practices through field contacts, attending meetings and maintaining membership in technical societies. Communicate timely and effective status to management and platforms on team performance and design development. Work collaboratively with marketing, engineering, software team, electronics team and customers to create and validate tractor specifications for components and sub-systems that exceed customers' expectations. Develop, document and distribute best practices in the engineering and design of tractor systems. Effectively communicates with other tractor system development group to ensure system requirements compatibility. The qualified candidate will have experience with the following: Engineering degree with emphasis in mechanical, agricultural, automotive, software, mechatronics and/or electrical disciplines A minimum of 6 years work experience engineering or manufacturing environment Minimum of 3 years work experience with cross-functional team collaboration Must have the ability to travel approximately 20% The preferred candidate will have experience with the following: Master's Degree in an engineering discipline Industry knowledge in precision farming applications, agronomic practices and general farm machinery operation Vision of the future of agricultural electronics, controls and software applications Experience coding embedded software in vehicle control systems Understanding of electronics integration in tractors and implements Experience writing design specifications and requirements for electrical and electronics systems and components Functional knowledge of CANBUS systems, SAE J1939 CAN and ISO 11783 communications A working knowledge of the control means and use of hydroelectric systems including hydrostatic, open and closed systems, including load sensing and pressure compensated designs as well as various valve cartridge technologies Strong time and priority management with ability to manage a large number of activities Ability to set clear objectives and deliverables Ability to work with a cross functional team and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, outside suppliers, and management Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to drive projects to completion Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) General knowledge of basic Ag tractor &/or off road vehicle design and operation Working knowledge of general computer applications (Excel, Word, etc.) Equal opportunity employer.
