This is a great opportunity to join our Systems Research Department that is seeking a like-minded person to expand our research in the area of the advanced next generation concepts of high-capacity undersea fiber-optic communication systems.

Overview

What you will be doing...

As a member of our Systems Research Department this individual will follow novel developments in communication industry, come up with innovative ideas of how the communication systems can be improved, work on and with simulation tools that describe various aspects of both existing and potential future communication submarine links, aggregate and summarize results and present them either externally on optical communication related conferences and/or internally to other teams as an input for new directions towards innovative products. Creativity is key in approaching the problems and coming up with the solutions.

Qualifications

What your background should look like...

  • Must have a Ph.D. in Physics or Electrical Engineering
  • Relevant experience in optical communications.
  • Experience creating simulation models for communication systems and using those model to analyze and optimize the system is required (e.g. nonlinear propagation, amplifier or similar communication component modeling).
  • Understanding of physical principles of most optical communication components and ability to derive physical models on paper, skillful use of the programing languages typically used in computer modeling of communication systems (e.g. Matlab, C, and Mathematica)
  • General knowledge of telecommunication technology, communication and team interaction/collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing, communication formats and ability to simulate them is a plus.
