Lakeside Terrace is seeking a full time Banquet Set Up/Banquet Supervisor to join their team! This unique role will consist of ensuring efficient operation of banquet functions by coordinating and providing work direction for the banquet team WHILE being responsible for the actual set up of events. This person will also be the point of contact for guests/clients during events. This position requires a flexible schedule including availability all days of the week and will supervise up to 7 members of the banquet team. This position reports to the Director of Food & Beverage.

 BANQUET SET UP JOB DUTIES:

  • Responsible for moving tables, chairs, staging and any other banquet equipment with proper use of hand trucks, carts and dollies in a safe manner.
  • Set up banquet rooms exactly as the contract states: this includes chairs, tables, staging, skirting of tables, water stations, buffets, etc.
  • Responsible for the breakdown and storage of furniture and equipment upon completion of banquet catering functions. This includes cleaning and vacuuming meeting rooms.
  • Treat guests with courtesy, friendliness and respect and provide responsive service. 
  • Perform cleaning and general maintenance duties of all banquet function rooms, equipment, and public areas. Follow maintenance program and cleaning schedule.
  • Provide porter service to the guests as required.
  • Notify management of any pertinent information related to shift activities
  • Ensure all water, amenities, audio-visual and breaks are in the room at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the meeting.
  • Comply with all customer needs for additional equipment and supplies and convey the additional charge to the guest. Notify the supervisor to add to the guest check.
  • Set up and clean all meeting and meal function rooms in accordance with company and hotel specifications.
  • Freshen all meeting rooms during meal breaks by changing cloths if necessary, refilling candy jars, replacing water glasses, refilling water pitchers and removing garbage from meeting areas and break tables.
  • Assist with meal service and breakdown as needed.

BANQUET SUPERVISOR JOB DUTIES:

  • Ensures efficient operation of banquet functions by coordinating and providing work direction for banquet personnel
  • Holds pre-function briefing to determine specifications of each function
  • Ensures quality service by assigning team members to work stations
  • Ensures that servers take care of every customer and are alert at all times to see that customers are given every attention
  • Provides work direction to servers; verifies that servers are at work as scheduled
  • Handles customer concerns and complaints promptly and tactfully
  • Supervises the handling, storage and security of all kitchen and banquet equipment used in function
  • Reports all maintenance problems to appropriate personnel
  • Inspects rooms and public areas for cleanliness
  • Provides team members with the information needed to perform their job effectively
  • Prioritizes and assigns work
  • Provides feedback to the team member and department manager on the team member’s performance of job responsibilities
  • Creates 100% guest satisfaction by providing “Can Do” attitude and by exceeding guest expectations. Communicates and demonstrates “Can Do” attitude to other team members
  • Gives personal attention, takes personal responsibility and uses teamwork when providing guest service
  • Listens, apologizes with empathy, finds a solution and follows through when resolving guest problems
  • Assumes the responsibility to notice when the guest is not satisfied and uses their best judgment as to when it is appropriate to use the 100% Guest Satisfaction Guarantee
  • Performs other duties as required to provide “Can Do” attitude

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to work a variety of day/night and weekend shifts.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds for a minimum of 300 feet.
  • Must be able to push or pull carts or equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to understand Guests’ service needs.
  • Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration, prioritize and complete all work assigned.
  • Ability to focus attention to performance of tasks despite frequent, stressful or unusual interruptions.
  • Ability to converse calmly with irate Guests’, co-workers or supervisors in sometimes tense situations.
  • Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers and other departments as part of a team.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
